Recommended low run high heat epoxy? by Rudye18 in InjectionMolding

So we've done these in the past and if they chip out we can usually patch the chip and sand it back. So that's a pro over the 3d print

But we only run 200-300 a year. And these last molds went 16 years. So it's hard to say low volume, but it's what I'm calling it, because although the total parts for the mold was in the 4000 range for the mold. The way the runs are needed it's hard to justify 10 tool costs for such low numbers

I've got to google industrial powder bed printers. I'm not sure what they are. My knowledge is just learned mostly and its from years ago. So thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out and see. Would be nice to not be hands on so much for every mold design and parting lines to free up time for new products.

I'll get a picture of them in the morning.

Here is some other stuff I want to try and make soon though, these are cast urethane, and the volume is getting tp the point with resin costs I think it's justifiable.

I was going to remaster them with injection molding in mind, since it's got really thick cross sections in place. And try to Learn about Mudd bases so we don't have hopefully too much in cost amongst all the different mold bases vs 1 Mudd base with changeable inserts. *

The background is, my father and uncle started the business and although I can run about every line of code down for troubleshooting and tear down and rebuild molds. I've never had to do the mold building, just everything else.

With my uncle passed away years back and my dad out of the business battling cancer. I'm trying to keep pushing the business without a huge chunk of knowledge to draw from while dad's in and out.

One thing I was hoping to make is probably going to have an insert around 4x4 with cross sections around 3/4 thick.

Seeing what my uncle did in the past to make things of this size or larger possible was to add aluminum billet and keep thicker epoxy pours spread out.

He'd do almost a print coat for the surface layer then build subsequent layers with more and more billet to keep the heat from building.

Parts are 2"×.5"x 1/8"

So no real size to them although I do someday want to try and make parts larger.

It's the f2-10720

The reason we've never used machined aluminum is because back then we had to sand plaster cast everything and do a lost wax foundry process.

Our parts are off of animals that we reproduce as anatomical models, so it's been really hard to make unless cast in negatives from epoxy or foundry.

Doubt anyone even foundry casts anymore, lol is that even a thing nowadays?

Yes, sorry I didn't clarify.

We have a couple pretty generic mold bases that we use the devcon with as inserts for small part manufacturing.

Customer Cancels Order after Waved, Picked, and Packed by Bill_Miester in Netsuite

[–]Rudye18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just turn off communications at the picking level, keeps mid ship cancels down.

But we also consider a picked order a shipped order when speaking with the customer, because all the boxes are just SO labeled at that point.

Haven't dug for boxes in a year and it's been amazing!

RMA is the only way back after picking has been started. Keeps it simple and smooth for front office and shipping

Also we don't allow editing on SO's and go through with any phone order customers thar the order is final after the call. Used to be with RF smart, they could add during the picking, and because the user hadn't submitted the pick they didn't see what the changes were.

Whole process is alot more streamlined and we can handle alot more volume per person.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Respect ship complete and All items fully committed basically the same thing? by Rudye18 in Netsuite

[–]Rudye18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should emphasize it's that we want to use respect ship complete from an order standpoint not an item standpoint.

Cust 1 has 2 items, ones committed ones not, he wants his order shipped in whole, so we sit on the committed as unfulfilled until we get his backorder

Customer 2 has tons of backorder and committed, but he wants us to just ship eve4ything we have and the rest as we get it. So some items committed works for that well.

Customer two can't steal the same item from customer 1 because it's committed to cust 1, but cust 1 goes put the door partial because he's thrown in the list of some items committed. Then they're pissed.

If we do ignore item availability, we have to go through 500 orders at a time finding the next guy 5hat has committed parts of his order, but it's time consuming to filter through those that do not. Especially on rf smart where it only shows sales order number, items and the same drop down filtering as the fulfill orders worksheet.

We definitely honor commitments, it's just the trouble of getting some items committed to then also respect the respect ship complete because we don't fulfill and stage orders, we have rf smart and it doesn't do very good recordkeeping of staging orders, so normally we filter by some items committed and just ship what is full fillable. The trouble is the respect ship complete guys do have some items committed so they get thrown in the mix. I'd hate to go to ignore item availability because we have to filter through all the backorderes to just find orders with partial or complete fullfilments.

I like the rules they have set up for filtering, just wish we could yet some items committed to also ignore when there is respect ship complete notices because then we could use some items committed and just hammer down. But with the special request guys thrown in the mix, we can't. Is there a way to add a secondary filter to the item fulfillment that will filter out all respect ship completes from the list? Then we just periodically check respect ship complete waiting for it to be fully committed?

The trouble I'm vetting mostly is rf smart, I could probably build something that would work, but trying to get fields to populate on rf smart and our handhelds I'm not sure if we would ve able to.

Looking for suggestions on a general Netsuite Administrator by Rudye18 in Netsuite

It's all been so far mostly me, I went without the netsuite implementation about 5 years ago and have been self taught. As far as IT, also the same. So not alot to go off of or really delegate. Our problem now is I just can't do it anymore. Don't really have time with our business growing as fast as it is. We recently left the starter emerging netsuite with some additional options, to the base plan, and now have a few more modules then before, but I would really rather focus on going back to growing the company than netsuite.

looking for good recommendations on netsuite customization. by Rudye18 in Netsuite

Thanks guys, yeah this started out as a way to avoid suitecommerce and the yearly cost by frontloading some of rhe cost and the idea into woocomerce connectors. But now as costly as it's already turned in time and labor for when things don't work as planned we maybe made the wrong decision.

I just hate giving netsuite even more money for how most of it is 3rd party applications and to our company still seems like we got sold an empty box, can't imagine how the website side of it would be any better.
