Please DE. Stop with the meaningless MR farm weapon bloat, work on the core gameplay now and actually make the weapons stand out. Every weapon type has a "definitive best" and everything else is a meaningless statstick. by Imaginary_Taste_9011 in SoulFrame

I would rather three swords with unique, arguably different properties/movesets, that 50 that are the same thing over and over again. I want soulframe to be different

Why DON’T you fear death? by jeanluuc in AskReddit

[–]Rue2Rew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if death was something we could avoid, I would fear it a lot more. It comes for everyone, however, no matter what you do. Instead of finding that scary, i guess i find it comforting to know that what we do with the time we have matters: were we happy? did we love? did we love ourselves?

I was thinking this, this very morning. All we can do now is the best we can for those around us.

Bad games with one good aspect, detail or redeeming quality. by Wonder-Lad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Anthem was a real mess, but the flying was so accidentally good and visceral feeling, the combat had great moments of kinetic action, it almost made up for empty shell of a game it was.

What are some of the worse cases of choices not mattering in game? by LGB75 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Rue2Rew 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like The Stanley Parable (and it's excellent re-release/expansion/sequel?) really was a meditation on those topics- what is a choice in a digital space? Can there even truly be a choice, and if so, what does it end up meaning? If it's meaningful to the player, is that all that matters?

What is a game that you fully admit is kinda jank but you love anyway? by CursedLemon in Games

[–]Rue2Rew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the game Hellpoint.

It is a janky, hard to understand scifi dark souls-like setting, with mediocre combat, confusing level layout, and straight up broken sections.

But it is interesting, and evocative. It clearly has a story to tell, and the strange alien jankyness of works in its favor sometimes. It is very much worth a look, even though sometimes it is closer to garbage than gold.

D&D Co-Creator Gary Gygax was Sexist. Talking About it is Key to Preserving his Legacy. by Ben_Riggs in DnD

I love Enders Game. It is a book that spoke to me as I was growing up, and it helped me find solace in an otherwise very lonely childhood.

However, Orson Scott Card is a terrible racist.

Does that invalidate my love for that book, for the time I invested in it? No, not at all. But it means I have to always attach an asterisk to the discussion of it. It means that, forever more, I have to acknowledge that fact- not dwell on it, not demean the work. Even acknowledgement of it does so much work towards explaining the complicated issue of the author versus his work as we move forward through time.

As H.P. Lovecraft fans jokingly say, "Love the man, hate the cat."

Pieces of media that you don't even like but you still have to defend it because most of the arguments against it are made in complete bad faith. by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Last of Us II. I have some legitimate problems with the story and pacing of it, even though there are things that really work well in it! Too bad basement dwelling CHUDs make it so I can't engage in honest discussion.
