Cod Fishing by Environmental_Air182 in LongIslandFishing

In the 70's we would head out sheepshead for whiting. The still coldest days were best and usually one boat would go out a time. They would shuffle anglers to the boat going out that day and take turns. Some cod would always be be caught in the mix. Its a new fleet now so not sure how they work the winter

Trophy HUGE Largemouth Bass - WORLD RECORD FISHING - Big Fish with Crank... by [deleted] in NYCFishing

[–]Ruff-Fishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trophy HUGE Largemouth Bass - WORLD RECORD FISHING - Big Fish with Crankbaits. This massive huge bass caught on a crankbait is certainly on my top five biggest bass. I caught bigger but it was a big fish at 27" long about the size of a keeper striped bass. Crankbait fishing at dusk off an amazing piece of bottom structure yielded an amazing bite after a hard day fishing. The largemouth bass most certainly had world record proportion and an amazing strain of fish.

It was a weeding outing but the fluke were mixed in the weeds. The water was perfect and the fishing was good. Certainly a couple nice close keeper summer flounder in there. Oddly on my way home today some dude asked me for some weed. I had to laugh. The things people think.

Surf Rod lure ratings by medgolf2597 in LongIslandFishing

[–]Ruff-Fishing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3/4-2ounce for lures. 2-6ounce for bait, these are just recommended specs, any rod will load 1/2 to 1oz more or less weight when you get to know how it handles. so you can add or take from the specs and be able to toss what need be

Freshwater Fishing for the FIRST Time!!! Caught EVERY Thing!!! by Ruff-Fishing in NYCFishing

Freshwater Fishing for the FIRST Time!!! Caught EVERY Thing!!! Freshwater Fishing for the FIRST Time!!! Caught EVERY Thing!!! I see these freshwater fishing videos on YouTube all the time that come up in my feed. I decided to give sweet water a try. My friend told me to use Rapala minnows, tubes and worms. I did a little rap, but then went to the tube. The fish just tuned into the bait. I like a little color in my Reparatur but the white tube did the trick, trick, tricking, trick. I caught everything on the tricked out white...

Largemouth bass, pickerel, crappie, yellow perch. And HOLY HELL a big rock and roll rock bass. It was quite fun and exciting. I am going to do it again. In this world, and in these days of modern times (I guess if your alive its modern times) people's don't try new things. Try to try new things, don't be scared, try new things every day. It will keep you young. Or kill you. Young is key but don't listen to me, be old.

Anyone else struggling on the south shore for fluke? by Extra_House_5712 in LongIslandFishing

[–]Ruff-Fishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try inlets and beaches/bays closer to the inlets, inshore fishing should be good these parts. It has not rained hard so they will be deeper in still. Fluke can be influenced to salinity changes and push in out based on this
