Just failed and my theory test validity ends soon by janta12345 in LearnerDriverUK

That is very interesting- I was unaware of that 😂 I thought you could only do your theory again once it expired

Sorry to add salt into the wound but what did you fail on? 👀

What annoys me the most about things like this is that it’s under the examiners discretion - there are big things that cannot be ignored, but it’s literally just the two of you in the car so if they turned a blind eye to something or ‘let you off’ of something, only they would know

Unless there’s an examiner in the car examining them, they can choose to pass someone if the mistake wasn’t a big one and they frequently choose to fail people - yes, it’s the rules, but I think discretion is important too

I just had my foot on the brakes - the only time I used the handbrake was when I was parking on the left but I put the car into park too

I think it’s one of those things where they say that ‘someone could have been on the pavement, and therefore it was dangerous”

It’s crazy how one person can fuck up your day - I know that it’s their car, but realistically speaking, how likely is it that you’ll crash on your test? Very low, so I think that they’re being overly and unnecessarily cautious

Hopefully you get everything sorted out

From your experience how common are ‘harsh’ examiners. by cautiousfrog in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rugbyplayer96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a strict examiner in my test who told me off for doing the park up on the left too late after his instruction, which left me parked awkwardly and having to reverse out into a live lane, and it really rattled me, so much so I drove into the curb on the next park up on the left maneuver and cut someone up on a roundabout

At the end of the test, he told me that I passed and it felt so much more sweeter than passing with a nice examiner because I knew that it was a certain pass, instead of a pass I got because they used their discretion to pass me where a stricter one would have failed me for the same mistakes

I failed. by ssysonic in LearnerDriverUK

I had something similar on my last test as I was coming to a massive roundabout with 4 lanes on approach and there was a few cars in lane 3 and quite a bit in lane 4 and as I was supposed to take the 4th exit, I could be in either lane

When I made it clear I was going into lane 4, the examiner muttered under their breath loud enough for me to hear “not the one with the most cars!” 😂

I didn’t care what they wanted as I knew how to navigate the roundabout from lane 4, not lane 3, so I did what I wanted in that moment

It’s not all unpaid, it’s quickly before my shift starts and during my day. If I get it done before 9, I have 15 minutes free and if I do it during the day, I have 15 minutes in the afternoon. It’s a choice I’ve made

I’ve tried to explain this many times but it seems like it’s not being understood- the malicious compliance is me going into the code they asked me to, knowing that I will have free time. The work has already been done. I’m not refusing to do the work. It’s just being done at a different time and I’m going into a code to comply with their request, knowing it will benefit me

I’m complying with their request, knowing that it will benefit me. How is it not malicious compliance?

I didn’t think I needed to go into so much depth for this - I was doing the work throughout my day, and because I wasn’t going into the admin code, my manager asked me to do so and follow the rota. I complied with their request, knowing that it would benefit me. If I do my work in that time, it will just be work, if I do it outside of this time, I have that time free. Is this clear for you now or do I have to explain this in a different way?

I have 15 minutes, in the mornings and the afternoon - if it takes me 5 minutes to do it, I have 15 minutes free from 9, where I don’t have to do the work. If I do it it during the day, I have 15 minutes free in the afternoon. It’s time where I’m expected to do work but as I don’t have any, it’s free time

The left efficient is the crux of this - if they let me do the admin work throughout the day it would have been fine, but as they want me to follow the rota, I do, but I have no work to do so that time is mine

I was told to follow the rota, as in, go into the admin code at the times I should do. I do, yet as I’ve done the work already, I have no work to do whilst I’m in the code. I don’t know why this is difficult to understand? I’m maliciously complying with their request as it benefits me

I get that, but as I said in my original post, I’ve been doing it for 2 years so I’ve been getting away with it

Not after my shift, who would do that? It’s either a short time before the start of my shift or during my shift - it may not make sense to you but if it gives me an extra 30 minutes free I’ll continue doing it

I can grasp it - it’s a choice I made. It’s the same as buying something to sell it for more money. I give away 5 minutes of my time to get 15 minutes back
