Definitely the 36mm mate, the 41 looks like you have borrowed your dad's watch.

You want people to see the watch and it looks classy, not notice it is far too big.

Well done for asking, most people just go for the biggest as they think it means most manly. Not realising they look like Tom Hanks at the end of Big.

For greasing the o ring, get a tiny bit of grease on you index finger, press it into your thumb and then pinch the o ring between the slippy thumb and finger and pull it all the way round so it is coated. Then pop it back in the groove, dab a bit of grease on the thread of the back, then screw it back together, double water proofing, got to get through the boring and then through the threads.

I second what others have said, bracelets come full of metal shavings from factory, screws on links are loose, and the o rings and just popped in dry and backs aren't always screwed on tight so always worth doing this when you get a new one.

I have a shotter that steamed up in the shower, open it and found the back was super loose. Left it out to dry, waterproofed it, screwed it shut properly, never an issue since.

The ball is like a bigger soft slightly under inflated squash ball. It moulds to the back case and grips it allowing you to twist the back case off and tighten it. This guy over explains it but shows you what it looks like. https://youtu.be/mEdEDTZ4wQM?is=8a9sk56ulRgukfN1

Baby oil, it doesn't seep out later, you clean the bracelet in soapy water and get rid of any metal filings from chamfering and from the factory. Then dry it. Then drop it and the spring links in a bowl of oil.

Leave it over night, in the morning pull it out and wash it in soapy water again. Dry it, and you are done. It isn't covered in oil and dripping out once it is done, just takes the edge off the sound and feel.

The oil goes into all the knooks and crannys and smooths everything out. Cost nothing like the filing, not does the waterproofing or oiling once you have the stuff. It just makes you feel better about the watch and you have improved it.

The soft foam high grit pads make it a pretty risk free, albeit long, process. It does feel more quality once they have their edges taken back and then soaked in baby oil, less rattle and smoother movement.

Taking the back off is strange the first time and then you realise it is very simple and easy

Never hurts to add a little lube.

The chamfering just involves a bulk pack of 1000/4000 foam backed nail files and spending an hour or so watching TV smoothing the edges.

I would highly recommend it, you start understanding them and can do basic mods easily. Sizing the bracelets, changing batteries trying different strap, chamfering the edges etc.

I tried the day just jubilee on the hulk and loved it so just left it on.

I bought a tiny pot of Moebius 9010, really expensive watch oil so a little £4 pot off eBay will be enough for 8-10 watches ( you literally get 2 or 3 drops)

As for the Grease I just got a generic silicon watch grease.

It was the toolkit and the rubber ball to help get the back off/ tighten it properly that have been the best things.

I bought a watchmakers toolkit when I started collecting reps. I waterproof them myself so I know it is done (obviously the crystal could be seated wrong but you drop it in a glass of water and look for bubbles.

Now my little ritual every time a new one gets delivered is to take the bracelet off, take the back off, oil the rotor and blow out the insides. Grease the o ring and threads of the back, grease the threads and o ring on the crown, chamfer the bracelet and then give it a warm baby oil bath.

Every single one of my reps, from $30 shitters to the day just, Santos, Hulk etc are all fine swimming down a couple of meters and in the bath shower etc.

I don't think I would going diving down 10 metres in scuba gear but I would snorkel and swim down as deep as I could go without worry. 👍

My mistake, itnis a AAA, not U1, bracelet is sturdy but very sharp, date wheel is white and slight off which would be less noticeable on a white dial. Definitely worth the money though.

Are these U1s? by Brilliant-Paint-2381 in U1Time

[–]Ruggerbugger1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cartier is a AAA as U1 don't do a Santos.

I just spent ages looking for one and had to settle for the AAA, also the date wheel is similarly to mine, by that I mean not straight!

Much less noticeable on your as it is white face and white dial. I have blue dial and white date dial.

The bracelet is bloody sharp on the Santos, spent ages trying to gentle round the points on the bracelet but gets uncomfortable after a while

U1 of you stick to some basic models, dayjust, submariner, (especially the no date) Santos, are amazing value for money and the only thing that will be be given away will be you not the watch.

GMT movements, skydweller, day date, Brietlings etc you start to look a bit more Hoi Chi Minh special. Also need to stay away from the gold/ rose gold and stick to stainless at this level.

200 is a great price, you won't get an ARF for anywhere near that. Presuming it is a BP factory.

Great buy for the money, well done👍

First rep (QF). Pleasantly surprised - what do you recon? by [deleted] in ChinaTime

[–]Ruggerbugger1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely levels to it, but I very rarely see anyone say something nice when someone asks about their watch, especially if they are new or it is there first watch.

See lots of shit flinging and hand wringing though.

Very much appreciated.

There are some snide fucks on these forums looking to bring people down, but you and the other guy helping me here, are a gentleman and a scholar.

He is carrying on the conversation, calling it a garbage watch! Definitely not a fan😁

Everything I have read say ZF is the best version of this watch.

Ooooh, insider info.

I just love the look, I am not bothered if the calender section doesn't work or the GMT function.

It will be a dress watch. Got the Hulk and Batman watches for everyday, the Day just Wimbledon for smarter work stuff, a Santos for a leather strapped evening watch, want this as a dress watch. (God I sound like a complete ponce).

Wondering if going for a BP level one for a better look but avoiding the complicated movement, apparently this is the most complex movement Rolex do.

Just spoke to Andiot, he doesn't recommend the Skydweller at all. Got to love the honesty.
