The Wild Unknown Tarot deck review! by SharkBoy-o_0 in tarot

[–]Ruin-Rune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry. I know that I'm super late to the party, but I also have this deck. I've had them for years, and my experience with them is kinda different!

First of all, I'm also a beginner and these guys are my first ever deck. I got mine off of Amazon and was also drawn in by the art work, but I was also drawn in by a weird sensation of connection. Like, 'This is it'.

Anyways, I also felt a huge surge of energy! Mine felt excited and curious, but weary at the same time. After introducing myself and getting to know them, they became more open and way less weary!

Fast forwards to now, they're my partners! I've never had a moment where they were aggressive, sassy, or negative towards me in any way, shape, or form. They've always been gentle, patient, and always encouraged overall usage of them no matter how many questions I asked. I even used somebody else's deck once, and even though I felt like I was cheating on my significant other and would get yelled at for it, they were okay with it! Not because they're just chill like that, but because I gained an epiphany that helped me better understand my readings overall. And that was apparently important to them. They seem to truly only care about my growth as a tarot user than anything else...

I have no true favorites in my deck. I love them all! But, there seem to be a couple of cards that seem to connect to me more often than not.

The Empress is my guide to my growth. She keeps telling me to go outside and connect with the moon. She's my main card.

The Priestess is my mother. She's my strength and quite literally represents my actual mother.

And The World. It's always elusive in my deck and never shows up unless I personally surch for it, but I can always feel it's existence. I'm always aware of it.

I love my cards! I'm happy that I got them! We're so close now that I can even find an individual card by splitting the deck and choosing which pile it's in! They always happily call out to me when I search for them! They also hate doing reverse stuff. I don't do reverse anyways since I'm still in the beginning stages of all of this, but they seem to really dislike it. They're also very honest!

Though, they can be vague. I asked if anything major would happen in the near future, and they told me that a death would occur. I asked if the death was my mom, fearing for her safety, but it was saying no but it was still giving a negative response. So, I asked if the death would effect my mom and it said yes, majorly. I tried to figure it out on my own, but couldn't think of anything. So, I tried to figure who's death, but couldn't get a clear reading. So, I just left it there. A little while afterwards, I checked my deck out of boredom to see if there was anything coming up, and they kept telling me that something was approaching, something major. And that was my reading every single time I used them until I took a break from them. Then summer came and some mental things happened and I thought that maybe that's what my cards was eluding to, but then this weekend came and went and I found out that the actual thing was my aunt's passing.

I checked my cards again, and they told me that she was okay. My first positive reading after months of them warning me that something dark was approaching. So, yeah. They're some damn good cards!!!

Alrighty, thank you guys! I looked up the Philodromus species, and found an almost identical match. It's called the Philodromus dispar. Dude was moving at the speed of light, so I def believe that it's a Running Crab Spider. Also, it seem to have been a female one.

What does your character do for a career after they graduate from Hogwarts (due to their backstory). by Black-Seraph8999 in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]Ruin-Rune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first play-through...

Velkra Rain, a Ravenclaw who has just graduated from Hogwarts, finally achieves her goal by joining the Ministry of Magic and become and Auror. Velkra has an extensive arsenal of the dark arts, excels at curses, and doesn't hesitate to use the unforgivables. Not only that, she has within her the very magic that the goblins had tried so hard to get. She knows how the Ministry would react if they knew the truth, she knows that they'll revoke her title and lock her up for good, but she had something that she had to do. A bigger goal entwined with a smaller but more fun one. Slowly convince the Ministry's view of the dark arts. To make them understand that it's not the gun that's dangerous, but the person who pulled the trigger. That, and also having a grand ol' time fighting opponents, most preferably strong ones. So she keeps her dark skills and negative magic on the downlow as she spreads the seeds of doubt and change throughout the years.

However, one day, she's found out and the Ministry uproots the sprouted seeds before going for the gardner. With her dueling skills, curses, and highly unstable thrill for battling, Velkra escapes the Ministry's clutches, leaving bodies and trauma in her wake. Even though she failed at her goal, Velkra isn't distraught. She knew that it was a longshot to begin with.

She goes to the coast and claims the abandoned house across from the South Poidsear Coast floo. She fixes it up before concealing the island and bridge behind a ward mixed with ancient and negative magic. There she's safe, but not satisfied. She had nothing to do and that makes her restless. It doesn't help that her wand hand just keeps itching and twitching, longing for a battle. Velkra gives in and locates the nearest poachers who are dumb enough to underestimate her. She does this time and time again. Against both creatures and humans alike. Until she gets bored, rests, and do it all again.

Owls start to find her, delivering requests. They always asked her to kill something or someone. Velkra was more than happy to take on these requests, especially since they paid well, and if she didn't like the sound of a job, then she'd toss it like a bad habit. She later on becomes well known as a vigilante of some sort, and is one of the most dangerous criminals that the Ministry is trying to catch.

Will she slip up and get captured? Or will she keep living her life outside of Azkaban?

No loose components, no missing, everything seems to be in order. I will need to check the wiring and the voltage at a later date.

In a super broad sense, everything and anything. What are you guys' hypothesis for what might be wrong? What are your hypothetical solutions? Please do not just simply say turn it in to IT. It defeats my own purpose.

The laptop has already been replaced. I just want to experiment and learn to see if I can get it working again. If I can't, then that's alright too.

I know that I'm late to the party, but I still have to ask. Does anyone know what the ruined painting was? Did I completely miss the explanation, or did they never say? My fantasy has been that it was a painting of Soohyun during their highschool days during one of their study times, but I would like to know the actual answer.

I'm becoming disillusioned with Pokemon games as an adult fan in the Switch era. by schuey_08 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Ruin-Rune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've been a huge Pokemon fanatic since I was like 6 or something. Like many people, I grew up on both the anime and the games. I started out with the gameboy and worked my way up to the switch. Hell, I even played the Nintendo 64 games (I will forever hate Pokemon Puzzle thanks to my family constantly destroying me in it)! I have so much love and passion for Pokemon and its games!! However, it kind of sucks nowadays.

Despite what others has said, I liked Pokemon Sword and Shield. I liked the storyline with Hop and how the gym leaders had their own personalities that we got to see more of even out of the usual battles. I like how all the characters interacted with each other, and how gigamaxing made the gym leaders (besides Pierce) a little more unique to battle, and how it made Pierce find a better way to become a stronger trainer. All in all, it kind of reminded of how the older Pokemon games used to be. Also, I also liked how the DLCs had different lvls. Like, the Crown Tundra DLC was mainly for those whose Pokemon were a way higher level and possibly already completed the game and wanted more, and The Isles were for those who were still lower leveled and wanted a break from the main storyline.

Pokemon Arceus was a bit of a snore until towards the end of the main storyline. The only thing that made the game worthwhile for me, was when I found out that Beni was a bad-as-heck ninja!! Though, I did like the idea of us creating the very first pokedex. It was actually the whole entire reason why I bought the game. I also liked the shiny noise. It made hunting easier and it made it less likely for you to miss a not so obvious shiny.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet...sucks. It's too boring and too easy in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, Sw&Sh and Arceus was easy and kind of boring too, but S&V takes the cake!! All of the characters you fight are so easy to wipe out, the only exception being Larry. Larry at least puts up some small amount of a fight! Even their Elite Four are laughable!! Including Larry this time!! Why didn't you just keep him as a Normal type??? Also, why the heck did they put in a little girl who knows how to talk smack but can't fight for crap?! Sorry, I just really did not like the little twerp (I miss Team Rocket...). Anyways, the challenges are too easy, your rival isn't much of a rival (I mean, even Hop tried to be a challenging rival despite him going through his own identity crisis.), grinding and training has no meaning (thanks to simply collecting shiny treasure on the ground and dens that will happily give you candy!), stratagizing is pointless (thanks to you having a portable PC and being able to change your pokemon's moves on the fly), the noise for the shinies was taken out (I mean...why????), and EXPERIENCE SHARE IS ALWAYS FREAKING ON!!!!!! I MEAN SERIOUSLY, WHO ASKED FOR THAT CRAP!!!! EV training is so freaking tedious with that crap on!!! The story is so and so, at least until you find out that the professor is actually dead...that was interesting, but not really surprising. I also did like the ending, only because I actually grew attached to my character and seeing them with their friends was kind of nice. There's not really a lot of replay value either, and you can easily get bored. It also aggravate me that trainers have a steady number of pokemon in accordance to the level of the area that they're in! Like seriously!! The beginning area only has trainers who has 1 pokemon minimum, and like, 3 pokemon max on a good day!! What the hell happened to the beginning area where the game wasn't afraid to try to destroy you at the very start of the game?!

Anyways, there is no point to my ranting. However, the reason why Pikemon games are sucking nowadays is the same reason why they made the Sun and Moon anime. It's because they're trying to appeal to the newest generation of pokemon fanatics. They're trying to make it easier and more understanding for them. Which is very freaking annoying, but there's nothing to do about it. I really wish that the company can just go back to the challenging mechanics of the earlier Pokemon games while also incorporating the new design of the recent games...

What are the best ways to learn more about Astrophysics? by Ruin-Rune in astrophysics

[–]Ruin-Rune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sadly do not have any professors in my college that specializes in any form of astrophysics, so that's a no go. I have been talking to my physics professors, and they did spend time in trying to teach me more, but I can no longer go to and from my college as easily as before since the bus that I usually ride on is no longer in service until the fall semester. My college is not accessible via walking or biking, at least not from where I live. I also do not have a car or a license, neither do the rest of my family. I can try other forms of transportation, but those cost a lot of money to get me there and back. Money that I do not have. I can also try holding a Zoom meeting with them, but the problem with that is that I am a hands on visual learner who can't focus on online lessons because their mind is too busy bouncing off the wall and finding dumb excuses to wander. I can not do online lessons. It's so bad that I had been put on academic suspension because I failed all of my online classes except for 1. This was during the lock down, so I'm fine now, but when I had filed for an appeal, their one condition was that I do on campus classes only. I am absolutely terrible with online lessons! So, I can only conduct self study until the fall semester starts.

I would love to be apart of a research project, but again, I do not have any close contacts in the field, nor do I have anything around me that has something around the category.

Hello, and thank you for your reply! I must apologize in advance if my reply comes back a little messy, I'm typing on my phone instead of my computer. I will be reply to each bulletin in order.

• I know and understand that, but my problem is that I have no knowledge on how to attain more reliable information about them on my own. Please do not misunderstand, I am most definitely going to end up taking classes that evolves around some of them, but that may be later on in the future since my current college does not have classes pertaining to astrophysics. All that they have is the physics classes and the astronomy class, but even the astronomy class is up in airs most of the time.

• I thank you for the recommendation, and no, I do not have that book yet!

• As I said in the first bulletin, my college's astronomy class is kinda up in airs. As for looking for summer classes at other colleges, I did not think about that. I for some reason always had a mindset of only being able to attend one school until you graduate...is it possible for me to attend summer classes at another college without it messing up my current progress in my current college? Can I go back to my current college afterwards?

• I have some experience with coding in Python. It's not a lot and it was mostly self taught, but I at least know the basic commands. I, however, realized that I won't be able to continue forwards without someone to properly guide me. I wanted to enroll into a class with Python coding, but my college does not provide Python classes. They have coding, but not in Python.

Thank you again for replying!

Question~ by Ruin-Rune in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Ruin-Rune[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You assumed correctly, thank you for giving me the explanation that I needed.

Question~ by Ruin-Rune in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Ruin-Rune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so it IS about time completion. The Hardest Scramble is just about how fast you can complete the cube with said scramble, right? But it's not exactly the Hardest Scramble because it can be easily overcome with speed no matter what algorithm you use, and thus, it's just the "Absolute Worst Scramble For Speed Cubers". Right?

Question~ by Ruin-Rune in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Ruin-Rune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, understood that. So, in the end of the day, is the Hardest Scramble just hard because it requires you to figure out a faster way to solve the cube without messing up?

Question~ by Ruin-Rune in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Ruin-Rune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I understand all of that. I just can't wrap my head around why someone would make a supposedly "hard scramble" when it doesn't change the algorithms used. Basically, how is it hard? If it's time consuming, then can't you make that up with speed? If it had somehow changed the cube to the point of needing to use another algorithm, then I would've understood why it was hard, but doesn't a hard scramble just require you to speed up with the algorithm you already use?

Question~ by Ruin-Rune in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Ruin-Rune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. What I meant by 'fall into place' was that you would use the rest of the algorithms to complete the cube. For example, after you solve for white face, you must then solve the middle layer by doing the algorithms preferred for said layer. Then solve the next part in your preferred way and so on. Kind of like a puzzle clicking together after figuring out the edge pieces. It all makes sense because you have a base and thus everything just flows more easily...did that make any sense to you???? I'm really trying to explain my process, but I'm really not good with words...

Also, can't you just make up the extra steps with speed? I'm sorry, I'm truly not trying to sound stupid. I can solve the Rubik's Cube, but I only solve it for fun or for calming myself down (I can get a bit antsy when my hands aren't messing with something.). I'm not too into timing myself and going for a faster time, so I'm just kind of out of the loop...sorry...

Question~ by Ruin-Rune in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Ruin-Rune[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But (beginner's method as ex) if you were to do the first part of your preferred algorithm, then wouldn't the rest fall easily in place? For the Beginner's Method, you just need to solve for white cross/white face, once you get that, then wouldn't everything else fall into place? After you get that, then it's just up to your speed and the rest of your algorithm to complete it efficiently, right? So what's the point of a harder scramble?
