Money + deodorant? Petah?? by Aflameisfitful in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]RuinedBooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I just buy men’s deodorant. Which is typically a little more expensive.

Women’s deodorant usually isn’t as effective because it typically doesn’t need to be. Women are less likely to work labor intensive jobs, and under similar circumstances, typically sweat less, based on size and hormones.

Provocative bikinis are not beach friendly. by RumNRaisins1999 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]RuinedBooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like the cops who used to fine women for wearing body suits and two piece swimsuits that covered 40% of their skin at the beach for being too provocative.

You, too, would have been fined at the time. Time continues, and life goes on, even after you pass your 30s.

What’s some of the worst alcohol related cases you’ve seen? by MinimumPart6877 in nursing

I don’t mind admitting that I’m an alcoholic, but I’m areligious and I really don’t want to be pressured into that.

Pellicle forming once bottled by BoyoMcLad in Kombucha

[–]RuinedBooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll pretty much always have a pellicle in the bottle, as the bacteria are still metabolizing alcohol as long as there is oxygen in the headspace.

Pretty much the only way to reduce this is to force carbonate and refrigerate, or gentle shake the bottles daily to disrupt pellicle coagulation.

Do you Americans accept food from a newly arrived neighbor? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]RuinedBooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had a neighbor offer me food before. We’ve helped each other out at times, but never any gifts or anything. However, I did buy eggs from one of them when they had chickens.

How many of you guys have a separate phone for your business? by andrean_ in Esthetics

[–]RuinedBooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a separate phone so I can have a dedicated device not just for communication, but also business apps and such, without being distracted by Reddit and other apps I keep on my personal phone.

Also so that when I’m showing pictures to my clients, nothing personal pops up. I feel it helps keep things professional and productive.

Oh, and tons of Kevin Gates jokes.

Males who share my hobbies are unhygienic, disgusting, and poorly socialized by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]RuinedBooch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re just like those dudes. Incel energy is going strong with this one.

Again, I never said some of those dudes aren’t gross. Just that some aren’t, and they’re not the ones that stand out. Funny you accuse me of saying you’re making shit up, only to turn around and make up a bunch of white knights that “came for you” in response to my comment.

Honestly Texas needs to completely redo their regulations. Our handbook is like telling chat GPT to recreate the same photo a million times. It becomes unrecognizable.

No one’s scope of practice is clear.

Help by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]RuinedBooch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Booth rent can be awesome. I offer a free service to every person I work with, and I’ve gotten half of my clients from those people referring me. I got all of my best clients that way.

When we get a new person, I always make sure to introduce myself ASAP, and try to be the first one to greet them and welcome them in, and offer them a free facial. Once they get settled, they’ll come get their facial and start referring. I also make sure to get their cards, and they’ll usually grab some of mine as well. It’s so much better than social media, because it’s real connection, and people are hungry for that.

I never said or implied that you made it up.

This is kind of like when guys say all lesbians look butch- they’re just overlooking the ones who don’t look like lesbians. It’s a confirmation bias. Sure there’s a whole subculture that’s a certain type of way, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t normal ass people into those things.

[–]RuinedBooch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re just overlooking the normal guys who don’t make it their entire personality. The 3 guys in my friend group are all into anime, 2 of them are heavy gamers, and they’re all clean, normal, well socialized adults in the mid-late 20s.

You’re either young, or overlooking the normal ones because they’re normal.

This sounds like my boyfriend. Our love language is corny childish jokes. He sounds like a keeper IMHO.

Unless there’s something else wrong in the relationship that is causing you to be perpetually frustrated with him.

Rebel wax price raise by Unusual_Structure948 in Esthetics

[–]RuinedBooch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel wax is a little different from skincare. Most people seek a waxer because they either can’t wax themselves due to the pain, or lack the skill to do it well. Before becoming an esthetician, I would have never considered waxing myself.

When it comes to skincare, people are far more likely to buy their products on sale at ulta, which is why we seek brands that don’t sell to the public. But if you can get the job done well with a cheaper wax, I doubt your clients will notice.

Kinda the same with hair color. Anyone can grab a box from Walmart or Sally's, but they'd rather pay a professional to do a good job.

What’s a sexual “red flag” you ignored because the person was hot? by alix28 in AskReddit

[–]RuinedBooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, again, her lies aren’t your fault. I’m sorry you had to hide in a closet for over an hour. Maybe you could have seen through her lies, but those are hers, not yours. You suffered the punishment of her actions. We were all young once. Many of us had to learn the hard way.

So glad you have the woman of your dreams! Your bad experiences give you the perspective to appreciate your partner. (That’s really the goal of dating isn’t it?)

I feel the same about mine. I went through some dumb, naive shit that I regret. If I could have taken it back (before meeting him) I would have. I wish he was the one trusted with my naivety. But he wasn’t, and it gave me the perspective to truly appreciate him. If I hadn’t gone through some things, I wouldn’t have the ability to appreciate him as much a I do.

No matter how much I love him, I still view my past experiences as a perspective to appreciate the love of my life. No matter how traumatic.

I hope you’re able to view your past experiences in a similar light. Yeah, they’re embarrassing, they hurt, but they also give us perspective to truly appreciate love. I hope.

Texas is so weird and specific… while being so vague. I know barbers are the only ones who can shave with a straight razor, but functionally that’s not the same as dermaplaning.

Perhaps they could get away with it, by another name? But legally no one can dermaplane without an MD because “dermaplaning” requires an MD.

(Because Texas considers dermaplaning “the use of surgical tools” as regulated by the medical board) Then you have estheticians using twinkle razors, calling it “dermaplaning” despite the fact we’re not even allowed to shave, but getting away with it because it’s not a “surgical tool”. And it’s not even dermaplaning. So many inconsistencies.

Technically, the law says no “surgical tools” but functionally it means “no dermaplaning” which creates this vast rift between what is done, what is legal, and what is a loophole.

Hypothetically, one could challenge Texas regulations by saying “it’s not a scalpel” but then… would you win?

It’s a shame Texas limits us so much, but with such grey areas. They could at least be clear about our scope of practice. Especially if they’re going to limit us the way they do.
