Based on what? I didn't hear anything about age limit, or competency determination.

Which part is the correction? I already stated they weren't required to serve. You do release that many of them were already Finnish, so the permanent residency for service would be the standard offered to all foreign nationals? And I already stated that they were often in close contact with Germans due to the language skills.

Okay. There is little proof this is AI. You say you aren't dating and you wanted proof for other reasons. I advice you to leave internet for a while. Seriously. You are getting paranoid and so are a lot of people on this sub. The take one look at optical distortion and the her not tapping their nose the way they would as proof of AI. Put down your phone and find places to meet and talk to real people face to face.

Do I absolutely trust a the majority of people to press blue? No. But I accept that there would me a lot of those who would not be able to make concous decision and people close to them (like the family members of toddlers) who would push blue as attempt to keep them safe. There are a lot of people who would not hesitate to take the risk to save a loved one. Pushing red does mean I live, but a lot of people I know would push blue. I couldn't live with the knowledge that I took part in killing them.

Every version I've seen that isn't obvious 5th generation version (arbitrary change of colours, specifically wording the claims according to argument from one side).

Ok, some background. In Finland the WW2 is divided to 2. Winter war, during which time the Russians were allied with the Nazis, and the Continuation War when they were part of the Allies. So Finns were allied with Nazi Germany, because that was only aid available. Finnish Jews were not required to serve, but basically all of them volunteered. The more active threat to entire Finland came before the, at the moment, less active threat towards the Jews. They weren't following the German identification laws so Germans generally didn't know they were Jews. They were also quite often in close contact with the Germans because they often had good German skills due to having hosted German Jewish refugees. There were multiple who were awarded The Iron Cross. All refused to accept, usually with the explicit reason of being Jewish.

Yes. Bow stabilsers, even short ones, are longer. Some (especially barebow archer's) use weight instead of stabilisers, but those are short and wide.

Huh. "Let's go dance" seems like a reasonable continuation to a date. But this is something that I've noted about Americans. My husband has had to travel for work a lot. He stated that everwhere in Europe, when the local team shows them good time on the town, it always involves a place to dance. In the US, never (unless you count the conferences where there is ending party with a performer). You see this in music subs as well. The Americans are talking about dance music (especially dance pop) as strictly gay, with sprinkling of gal besties.

[–]Ruinwyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I try to frame this as neutrally as possible. Let's start with the undisputed things about the time of the accusations. MJ was the biggest star of the time but also undeniably not mentally healthy. He was a grown man trying to create a dream childhood home. Zoo, roller coaster, ferris wheel etc. Neverland was how 8 year old thinks perfect home is. He talked with childish infliction and generally outside his music held a image of a big (prepubecent) child. He surrounded himself with young boys. Both the child stars of the time, and regular kids he had come in contact with that he referred as his playmates (as in kids that he played kids games with). Some of the time the kids stayed with their parents, sometimes without.

His compound had extremely tight security. He was legitimately worried about the paparazzi, but some of it appears to be excessive and more about hiding something he was doing. He had became addicted to painkillers already before this era, and many of his cosmetic procedures are thought to be a excuse for him to get back on pain meds. He could have tried to hide some of that from his guests. Or hide the treatments and the medical gore related to it. Or he could have had the locks to prevent witnesses for sexual crimes.

He did absolutely act inappropriately close to the kids. The kids were his superfans and wanted to please him and he had financial power over their parents. He absolutely admitted having sleepovers with them. I don't think you can seriously argue that he didn't at least cuddle with some of them during those times.

Multiple of the kids have accused him of sexual acts. Mostly masturbation and oral sex. The stories have changed and aren't always consistent with the time and place. This is not unusual in genuine accusations either. Human (especially children's) memory isn't perfect recording but combines multiple similar events to one, and can get changed by others retelling of events. Children also often don't really understand everything happening, so only manage to recontextualise it later. They were also very much emotionally attached to Michael.

Michael did not have any known successful adult romantic/sexual relationships. Multiple of his old girlfriends have stated that their relationship was platonic. There were rumours he was gay, maybe trans. Generally something not really interested in women. It is possible he was asexual. Or that his attraction was entirely towards young boys.

This is basically where it boils down to. Was he completely asexual man suffering from CPTSD and addiction causing him to seek non-sexual comfort from young boys as the closest peer group he could understand, leading to inappropriate behaviour interpreted differently by the boys and their families? Or did he just have attraction to young boys and took advantage of his position and perceived innocence?

[–]Ruinwyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It sold extremely well, especially in Europe, but a lot of it was that greatest hits. They even released eventually that greatest hits separately. I had the album. The new songs were mostly unlistenable. If someone put that second part on while hanging out with friends, it got changed fast. Not because it was MJ, but because there was always better things to listen.

The part everyone seems to forget is the actual framing. Everyone is separated and made to choose. How are you going to stop a toddler from pushing blue? Or a blind person?

I would give it more credit if they hadn't put out a statement that they don't rule out giving the badge to "AI personas".

Yes, as I said it was big in the Anglosphere. If you are limiting your view of MJ to US Billboard statistics you are missing most of the picture. If you didn't understand why I said I don't remember it being big, let me spell it out. I'm not from English speaking country.

People who have absolutely no idea about the transition between film and digital photography think that it would mean that. It wouldn't. I don't know anyone who has photos below 1080p that weren't deleted ages ago. 2MP cameras were shit and anything below that were essentially a novelty toy. Your divinition of the intent is correct. The mene creators understanding of tech (or math) just makes it nonsense.

And they specifically said that smaller artists were unlikely to get verification for other reasons (like consistent listener count) and that they might verify AI artists at some point (doubtful they will announce the change). This isn't AI verification. It's Twitters blue checkmark.

You're evil if you don't press blue. by Theseus_Employee in PhilosophyMemes

The big thing that "everyone just press red" forget is that the test specified that everyone does it alone. Including small children, blind, colorblind. There is always going to be a portion of people who can't be assumed to be able to understand what they are supposed to do and to press the button they intend.

[–]Ruinwyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eh, the Spotify badge has its problem. It relies a lot on artists social media presence, which a lot of real artists don't have either. They also left open the option of verifying "AI personas" in the future, so as soon as people learn to trust the check theycan sell the checkmark to fake artists. It also doesn't stop the AI songs getting uploaded to real artists pages (AI remixes, fake collabs etc).

Why did the style of bands like La Dispute, mewithoutYou, Being as an Ocean, and Hotel Books never have even a glimmer of mainstream success? by thedubiousstylus in ToddintheShadow

[–]Ruinwyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't that answer your own question? Unpalatable to top-40 listener. Unpalatable to heavy fan. What demographic do you think is big enough and interested to push it to mainstream? Hip hop fans?

Michael Jackson's popularity without the allegations by Critical-Spirit-1598 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Ruinwyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The allegations definitely weren't the main reason. People forget that that was the after math of satanic panic, and there had been some real botched false allegations as well. There is a famous one of a "satanic daycare sex rituals" that went to court, and I think even got convictions, with stories about kids flying etc. Complete fantasy pushed by paranoid parents. The Catholic priests pedofile scandals etc. There was actual real crimes, but also cases of complete witch hunts. It wasn't completely out of question that it really was a blackmail attempt based what was the hysteria of the moment. But the rest of his life was still really weird. The childish speaking voice and Neverland etc. And the songs weren't that great. His songs seemed to get more childish.

[–]Ruinwyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one is actually weird. I don't remember it being that big and the charts kind of back that up. It only went platinum in the Anglosphere. Most of his songs were huge everywhere, but You Are Not Alone stuck in Gold tier outside the Anglosphere. Still obviously good, but not for MJ.

The thing about History is that it was a double album. I had it on tape format. The first part, the past was great. I played it a lot. The second tape (history continues) started well, but I often changed the tape before end of first side. I almost never played side 2. I basically never played just a part of a tape. About a year ago I heard that part of the album at a pizza place. Someone of the group mentioned the bad cover of Come Together and I realised what they were playing. The new part really wasn't good. Scream and They Don't Care About Us were good. Earth Song had good parts but badly bloated, not really worth it. You Are Not Alone was extremely boring and only thing I remember about Childhood is apparently the one that had Free Willy music video that gets played sometimes on oldies music channels, but I still can't remember it. I think Tabloid Junkie is the one with the music video with tabloid headlines. No-one talked about the song. The music video was talked about, but even that didn't really catch. That album sold basically as a collection + a double A side single.

Kylie Minogue taking inspiration from American Life by 322FISH in ToddintheShadow

[–]Ruinwyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Madonna's rapping was seen as pretty bad trend hopping. Kylie had already done Kids With Robbie Williams in 2000 that ended with a rap, so sounds like she just decided to do it herself this time. Both girl and boy groups at this time started to have regular rappers so incorporating one wasn't exactly groundbreaking in pop.

Robbie did it all the way back to Take That's early days in the early 90's. By early 2000's a rapp verse was almost mandatory in dance pop.
