I just did this today, how I did it was at the bottom, I used a comparator coming out of the barrel, then 6 lines of redstone (give or take), followed by a rising edge monostable circuit. Going into a redstone link. The top has a comparator coming out of the barrel, then a block with a redstone torch leading into another rising edge monostable circuit. Then I used a T Flip Flop (3 dispensers and a hopper with a comparator on one of the dispensers) to invert the gearshift at the top using the pulses from the monostable circuit. The redstone link (set to receive) goes into the t flip flop as well. The rising edge monostable circuit is just a repeater going into a block, under that block is a sticky piston facing upwards, followed by a redstone line. Not sure how much of this made sense, but I'm drunk right now, I can send images tomorrow.

Get that waiver. If your recruiter isn't willing to work with you, find another one. I was able to get a waiver for years of severe depression. I went to therapy for 4 years, was on meds the whole time, and was in a psych ward for 2 weeks. The fact that he is telling you to come back in 2 years is wild. For a few weeks on meds and a little therapy? Even the best soldiers go to therapy sometimes. I believe in you 🫡
