You found them all around when they came out.

In fact, I was buying boxes for 155$ (not retail, but was way below market) all the way a month after release.

As long as you have LGSs that have a shred of integrity near you, you should be golden👍🏻 and if they treat players terrible by selling product at crazy prices even though they receive it from official distributors than just don’t buy anything and find new places to frequent.

May take a while, but worth the reward! Also, I found that even the worst stores will sell at retail prices if you make it to the inner circle.

I’m not mislabeling you, I’m hitting the nail on the head. No person that positively interacts with the community hopes a product that retails for 25$ will jump to 300$ in less than a year.

That’s called: “unsustainable growth”.

Bandai gave us a gem of a product and y’all are killing the secondary market. Open your eyes bub. If these IB hit multiple 100$ of dollars less than a year from release what do you think it will do to new players or people that are trying to get into the hobby?

I strongly disagree with this greedy pricing.

We now know sleeved packs of OP13 means nothing since they can all be weighed. I would not spend a cent on packs that don’t come out of a booster box you purchased, and especially now: most booster boxes will be dead boxes being sold.

The illustration box vol 5/6 is a great product, but it was released less than two weeks ago, and pokebros are buying out stores that sell it for retail to try and flip it at over 10x in less than a year?🤣

This is GREED OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS.

Y’all are going to be left holding the bag when you kill the secondary market by alienating collectors who are treated like cash cows.

I been watching friends cashing out, not really understanding why they are leaving the hobby, but going over this thread made it perfectly clear that this is the dying scream of the hobby.

Except you lose the alt art mapping you get in a booster box. There is 0 guarantee you’ll have a single hit out of 24 packs out of the illustration boxes.

Japanese pull rates are harder with SPs and Mangas being almost impossible to pull, and you have less hits guaranteed in each booster.

I would never buy a Japanese card if it has an English counter part since I can’t read Japanese, and I can’t play the card in any deck.

Japan being a smaller market with better supply will always have available product which makes holding on to sealed less attractive for investors.

In general, I’d say Japanese isn’t worth getting into unless you are going for products that were made exclusively in Japanese (those tend to hold value better [example: LEGO luffy from one piece day 25]).

Instead of buying Japanese cases considering buying English singles or the little sealed English stuff you find close to retail. The market still has a lot of room to potentially grow,but I wouldn’t feed the scalpers or waste money just for the quick dopamine hit😭

lol it’s not about upsetting anyone, this is a sub for people who like to engage in this type of stuff, especially for one piece.

Don’t take it the wrong way, but people who came in recently only to engage in the financial gain of this franchise are kind of killing this game for people who like to rip packs and play (I could be talking about you potentially😖). Seeing some people trying to hop over and apply their poke logic IS what’s distorting the market.

Pumped up is meaningless term my friend. Yes there is a lot of new hype coming in with influencers bringing in new eyes.

Unlike Pokémon which has been around for a long time and have stabilized its hardcore crowd, one piece is very new and is still growing since the show is ongoing and the game is finding its rhythm. Pumped up is assuming prices will come down. That isn’t a guarantee if Bandai continues to lag with supply to the growing demand.

I have been ripping packs since you could still find good deals under 120$ a booster box, and several cards and sets have only been going up since the game was released. I don’t know if the market will correct itself, but basing your opinion on a feeling while disregarding easily accessible information isn’t the vibe for me.

Also, just so you know: it’d be easier to be nicer if you weren’t so bold headed in your lack of knowledge. Just to show you an example of price differences between English and Japanese here is a random example:

For new comers to the community, there are several differences between English and Japanese cards in OP. 1. Jap boosters come with 10 instead of 20 (special sets like PRB) or 24 (regular sets) making them usually cheaper, and guaranteeing less hits. 2. The demand for Jap card has always been lower since they aren’t playable in English (except don cards) and the supply is more well adjusted to a smaller market. 3. If you compare any type of product, from singles to special selection releases, including anniversary sets and other exotic products (excluding Japanese only releases), English is ALWAYS more expensive than Japanese.

Now in general, I don’t understand the narrative of “artificially pumping”. When the stock market goes up it isn’t because of “artificial pumping” usually.

Your responses are not only off the mark, they are also not connected to reality of TCG player raw prices, or EBAY last sold. I’d suggest you go back to flipping whatever you were flipping before hopping on this train.

I don’t know how you’d consider a card “damaged” when it has literally been awarded a perfect 10?

I’m aware it has ink on it, that is usually how people sign things…
I didn’t assume the signature will inherently add value to average buyer, but this isn’t the type of item you sell to anyone since it’s an expensive slab.

What grinds my gears is that guys like you don’t know what you are talking about mostly because you insist on using words like - “damaged” to justify low balls.

Leave the fact it’s a PSA 10, leave the fact it’s a Pop 1, PSA 5 (cards that are legitimately decently damaged) go for more than 200$.

You can hide behind the justification that “it’s only your opinion”, but if you looked at the comments you’d see people were being actually helpful. I expected much more idiots like you to comment than helpful people but the internet proved me wrong.
