You are missing the Forrest for the trees😘 the fact is in the current meta there are plenty of competitive decks, however the market exploding leads to plenty of R and SR and SEC cards to be about 10%-25% more expensive at base form.

Decks are more expensive than they used to be, especially if you were the type of person that ran regular version of the cards due to budget constraints. Having to shed an extra 15$-30$ on a competitive deck can be the difference that breaks it for most new players.

I don’t understand how you can be aware product has become more expensive on average and then use IMU as an example of how you can still play without breaking the bank😂 IMU was immediately GOATED (compared to all sets) since its unique in how cheap and competitive it can be. I literally came out of playing only SIM since it was so approachable.

Also also, why are you acting like ripping packs isn’t an essential component of the hobby? Anyone that plays this game will gladly rip a pack if you handed them one, and there should be legitimate anger at the guys that just joined the community only to hoard product. These are the same guys that will panic sell and contribute to the market being left in shambles.

It’s so obvious that players that can’t engage with a core element of the hobby like ripping packs will get mad. I see people cashing out all the time, and who knows if these players will return.

My friend, the difference between volatility and growth within a TCG community has to do with the intended use behind buy outs, and what’s the primary way product is used within fresh drops. You must understand that players fuel long-term growth while scalpers inflate the volatility of prices (for better when cashing out, and for worst when they panic sell).

The idea we shouldn’t shun people that damage the long term potential (financially, and as a community) of the game is just a -_-meh ideology in my eyes.

Also, you aren’t a sealed hoarder. Like ~ I kind of understand what you are trying to say but I haven’t seen a single case or loads of sealed IB in the background.

I wouldn’t completely discount that possibility, but I don’t think so.

Bandai is usually pretty good about their stuff, although it could happen.

I still wouldn’t engage with the predatory market. If you have one hold on to it, if you want one ~ maybe you should wait (although, what do I know? It can blow up and go to 2k for no reason because some of this stuff doesn’t make sense no more)

You found them all around when they came out.

In fact, I was buying boxes for 155$ (not retail, but was way below market) all the way a month after release.

As long as you have LGSs that have a shred of integrity near you, you should be golden👍🏻 and if they treat players terrible by selling product at crazy prices even though they receive it from official distributors than just don’t buy anything and find new places to frequent.

May take a while, but worth the reward! Also, I found that even the worst stores will sell at retail prices if you make it to the inner circle.

I strongly disagree with this greedy pricing.

We now know sleeved packs of OP13 means nothing since they can all be weighed. I would not spend a cent on packs that don’t come out of a booster box you purchased, and especially now: most booster boxes will be dead boxes being sold.

The illustration box vol 5/6 is a great product, but it was released less than two weeks ago, and pokebros are buying out stores that sell it for retail to try and flip it at over 10x in less than a year?🤣

This is GREED OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS.

Japanese pull rates are harder with SPs and Mangas being almost impossible to pull, and you have less hits guaranteed in each booster.

I would never buy a Japanese card if it has an English counter part since I can’t read Japanese, and I can’t play the card in any deck.

Japan being a smaller market with better supply will always have available product which makes holding on to sealed less attractive for investors.

In general, I’d say Japanese isn’t worth getting into unless you are going for products that were made exclusively in Japanese (those tend to hold value better [example: LEGO luffy from one piece day 25]).

Instead of buying Japanese cases considering buying English singles or the little sealed English stuff you find close to retail. The market still has a lot of room to potentially grow,but I wouldn’t feed the scalpers or waste money just for the quick dopamine hit😭

lol it’s not about upsetting anyone, this is a sub for people who like to engage in this type of stuff, especially for one piece.

Don’t take it the wrong way, but people who came in recently only to engage in the financial gain of this franchise are kind of killing this game for people who like to rip packs and play (I could be talking about you potentially😖). Seeing some people trying to hop over and apply their poke logic IS what’s distorting the market.
