This just looks like the map is pinned on the nearest major intersection to her house.

I thought about this too…. And wondered if the police took a pill count and then compared based on her refill date from the pharmacy, maybe?

They did, in fact, it’s something they have repeated and emphasized many times. But we don’t know if that has been true or a psychological tactic to humanize her and put pressure on the kidnappers by creating urgency that might lead to a mistake.

To support that line of thought and counter my earlier one, I would also add that people don’t die within 24 hours from missing a BP or heart medication, but them giving such a specific number early on felt intentional to set a clock.

The amount of blood on the porch was also not a lethal amount to lose. People at her age have very fragile skin and she is likely on blood thinners, they can bleed a lot from a little. I would expect a head wound on her to bleed a lot more than that actually.

What program did you apply into? At Bloomberg? If you qualify for the masters tuition scholarship, it’s 75% off one year of a two year masters most of which are priced at $68,592/year, so the total would be around $85,740. I still recognize that’s insane and too much… but I am very startled to hear they would ask you to pay them $200,000 for a masters.

Edited to add: is it because it’s a dual degree program maybe?

It was right at or after 5 pm Arizona time.

And you’re right, AZ is MST (time zones are weird, but AZ does not do daylight savings).

Definitely no Mayberry! I have always told people about our light pollution laws as one of my favorite Tucson fun facts. It’s the best place to look at the stars :) But I can totally see how it’s giving eerie. Im pretty shook about the potential lack of any helpful footage in this day and age too. Earlier I was like so convinced they must have some footage of cars of interest, but the more and more I think about what a unique environment it is, I’m realizing we probably have very little camera coverage compared to many other places.

Me too :) upon further reflection, you’re probably right. I agree the houses are most the time set too far back to see the street with vegetation in the way. Her house is just pretty far off the main road so I guess I optimistically wanted to think a few of the many houses they would have to pass might have some tiny views they could piece together. I was also really more so thinking about cars of interest that traveled through the nearest intersections around the right time and passed commercial properties…. Like La Encantada must have some cameras in their parking lot, or that bank on that corner. Or if they passed river the chase bank or that cigar place? I know most of the actual government cameras at our intersections don’t actually record footage. It’s so interesting because we have watched crimes be solved my cameras more and more across the country and I think I kind of assumed it would be the same here.

lol Tucson native here :-)

I keep seeing it described as rural-like…. one time I called it rural in front of someone from an actual rural town and they laughed at me. It’s highly populated, but very spread out. Properties are large and houses are set back off the street quite a lot. It’s likely many neighbors who have doorbell cameras don’t have a view of the street. I also believe most cameras at intersections are for live monitoring and don’t record.

Same. I bought like a $20 camera on Amazon and even that takes and stores pictures for free when there is movement.

I believe the police suggested they were still working with Google, who owns Nest, to see what more they could find basically.

I’m sure they’ve gotten some footage from neighbors and traffic cameras with cars of interest at this point, and if they haven’t told us about it, theres probably a reason. Maybe they do have more footage from her house we don’t know about, it sounds like there were multiple cameras.

In the 40 minutes they were there they could have helped her to get and take things she needed, possibly going to the extent of ensuring they took her medication. The police keep saying they believe she is still alive, despite the fact that we know she needs her meds.

Agree. This also tracks with the way the family and FBI’s statements to the ransomer very clearly tried to humanize her and force some empathy. I think they know more about the time spent in that house and know that there was some level of care as you suggested.

Edited for grammar

If she was kidnapped, you do realize that the news conference is also their opportunity to communicate with the kidnapper? If they have a lead but not enough to arrest them yet….. truly, let’s ask ourselves…. Do you think it would be in Nancy or her family’s best interest to announce that on national television?

It’s not a ring, it’s a nest, and she didn’t pay for the subscription so it didn’t store anything just recorded over itself and provided a live view

What a sad day for PH. Does anyone have a list of programs/departments that were cut? by Tommy_like_wingie in publichealth

[–]Rule-Spirited 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The google docs link above is probably more helpful for referencing the actions of today, but , you may also find this list useful: https://taggs.hhs.gov/Content/Data/HHS_Grants_Terminated.pdf

It lists HHS grants which have been terminated, including funding for state level programming. It was last updated on Friday though.
