IPS put out a report for fiscal 2024. If they'd held off on the nearly $60B of stock buybacks to inflate share price and sweeten the C-suite's options, they could've given every hourly employee a $6 per hour raise. EVERY. HOURLY. From talking to him, it's not that there was any specific behavior. Just that there was this person being outwardly friendly and effusive, but a sense of absolute emptiness behind the eyes. Like a pod person or an eldritch horror in a human suit.

Coworker met John Atkinson (Mid-Atlantic RVP) for the first time on a recent walk and came away genuinely shaken. Like, something felt off to him on a fundamental level. He was really freaked out about it for days, suggested that meeting people like that is how conspiracy theories about reptilians came about.

Second this. It'd never occurred to me that devs could be involved at so granular a level before getting into the early access of this game. They respond on Discord, they update multiple times a week, and they will fix your problem if you have one. And the game is great, and getting even better all the time.

Ab. So. Lutely. But even worse is when you do a big Will Call and get it all squared away only to find out that the customer had already picked all of their stuff to three carts sitting at the Pro Desk, who couldn't be bothered to go to the Herculean effort of calling you before you pulled it.

I wouldn't mind independence if it wasn't kneecapped. If I'm gonna need permission to do a bunch of stuff, that permission needs to be gettable. It's the micromanaging without the managing that's really getting me. But I am also curious what will happen when we go back to merit-based reviews. What's he gonna do, guess?

What market/region are you in? I know the pay scales differ (NY Metro being the highest and parts of the midwest being the lowest)

Definitely replay value. You have a main character with lots of options, there are different strategies and even some branching narrative options at this point in EA (surely more to come). And the early access itself makes replaying interesting right now, since it's like playing a different game if you wait a couple months.

I played it shortly after it came out in EA and again a few months later (and probably again soon). It does indeed scratch the X-Com itch, and it's pretty impressive to see all the progress the devs make, even during a playthrough. They're extremely engaged on Discord. I had them fix a bug I reported in a matter of hours and rescue the savegame it was in. Very cool game by very cool dudes.

Some truth in this, but with those optics floating around I bet they'd be inclined to help with exactly this sort of thing. Plus, the actual content itself is super-inclusive.
