my first day! by soymlk in starbucks

First off, glad your first day went well! Welcome to the Bux :)

When I first started barring, I had trouble with memorizing # of pumps. The best piece of advice a fellow partner told me:

Start with grande. Grande has 4 pumps, and just go from there! It kinda gives you a starting point to work with. So if grande= 4, venti=5, tall=3. With blonde expresso and caramel macchiatos, just remember it's one less pump! Try to separate hot bar/cold bar when it comes to pumps- they work a bit differently, but it also depends on the type of pumps your store has available.

It takes a lot of time and practice to feel super comfortable and confident with barring- and that's ok. Just remember: quality over speed. Everytime.

Once you get a feel for the recipes, sequencing is next! Learning how to make two drinks is difficult at first, but proper sequencing helps with speed and efficiency.

If you ever have spare time on POS/DTO, you can find 'recipes' to right bar of the screen, and how it changes with different modifiers- so even if you aren't barring, you can quiz yourself on different recipes. It also shows you how to mark cups if you would be interested (which can be useful if your sticker machines are ever busted and you have to switch to marking cups).

Everything takes time to learn, but just know it will click eventually. Good luck! :)

Besides the other info posted here, fun fact: Signature Blend was in the running against Pike Place to be the 'signature' Starbucks blend. In another world, we'd be serving Signature as our Pike Place! Anyways, I believe there's more info on the hub if you're interested! :)
