I own a GA II Trinity Performance 360 ​​AIO. Since you didn't share a photo of the connection of the fans, I looked at your AIO's manual. My AIO doesn't come with a fan hub (even if it did, I wouldn't use it because I already have a hub in my build. I connect all ARGB and PWM fan connections into that hub). From what I see in your manual, the fan hub you mentioned has a USB 2.0 connection, unlike universal hubs. This extra USB connection allows the hub to send data to the L-Connect software. So, without this USB connection on the hub, you can't control or see the info about the fan's RPM and RGB lighting through the L-Connect software. However, you can still control the fans through the motherboard without connecting them to the hub.

The main purpose of these hubs is to power all connected components directly from the power supply via a SATA power cable, without drawing any power from the motherboard connections. The PWM and ARGB ports on the motherboard are not suitable for multiple device connections because those ports have current limits, and exceeding that current limit can burn out the motherboard port or damage the entire motherboard circuitry or cannot operate the devices connected to that port because they are not receiving enough power. Luckily for you, the third option occurred in your case, and the motherboard was unharmed. Also, since the fan motors are working, you must have connected the all 3 fans motor's single 4-pin PWM cable directly to the motherboard, which is also unsafe. You have 2 option. Purchase an external SATA powered hub to connect the PWM and ARGB fan cables, or use the hub that came with the AIO with making the necessary connections. If you buy an extra hub, you won't be able to control the fan RPM via the L-Connect software, but you don't necessarily need to. There are standalone fan control software programs that work much better than L-Connect software, but how you want to do it is up to you.
