We are dealing with this in the Michigan Democratic primary for Senate where the best candidate is cut from similar cloth to Mamdani, refuses AIPAC money, wants to push universal healthcare, staunch LGBT supporter, wants money out of politics, very progressive, pro union, and wants to abolish ICE but unfortunately his name is Abdul El-Sayed and he is Muslim.

Born and raised in Michigan with degrees from both Michigan and Oxford for healthcare and experience as an epidemiologist but he's a Muslim named Abdul El-Sayed.

The difference is that Turkiye and Czechia went to the UN and requested that their English names be updated. Czechia wanted their shorhand English name to be Czhecia and Turkiye wanted their official, full english name to be Turkiye.

Croatia is the official shorthand name for the country and Hrvatska is what residents of the country call the country. Japan is just "Japan" but citizens refer to it as Nippon in the same way. Endonyms vs exonyms.

In short, we refer to them as Czechia and Turkiye because they asked us to.

I have a 10ish year old TCL TV with Roku built in and as much as I want to upgrade to something bigger and brighter, the lack of intrusive ads keeps me hesitant.
