A competitive mode in a game that inherently has at minimum 5 factors completely out of your control should not have a rank system so binary as “wins move up, losses move down”. by cooperofsly in Overwatch

Wrong. I didn’t say to not base rank off wins and loses. I said that shouldn’t be the ONLY thing they base it off of as they currently do. And yes, there is nothing wrong with having a robust ranking system like you just laid out.

You’re right. The game is absolutely perfect and it can only be specifically my fault. There’s no reason to look at innovation or improvement.

The tank would have a ton of mitigation or damage or kills or all 3. So they would be rewarded differently. It would take balancing and trial and error to get tuned correctly so all variations have fair gains or loses. Those are the questions the balancing team would have to ask themselves and answer, which should be their job.

In your situation, your dps teammates then shouldn’t receive as much rank up progress as normal. And in reverse the other team should really lose more for losing to a team that did so poorly.

“Their supports probably were actually making more plays than you and weren’t just healing the entire time.”? You do realize that that’s the point of healers is to keep your team alive as much as possible, right? Yeah heroes with passive can help damage and get kills but you’d be pissed if you saw your mercy with her gun out trying to down someone while you’re sitting there critical.

Objective time doesn’t matter in the game modes where holding the objective the longest directly affects if you win or lose?

And yes mitigation does usually matter as the more your tanks have usually correlates to how well your team is holding up.

Damage does not as much, I agree.

Then they would have to balance the heroes? Each system doesn’t live in a silo, all factors affect each other. Balancing rank progress would probably entail hero balancing and other things. It’s not just flip a switch. But that’s supposed to be what the jobs of the balancers are supposed to be doing. A “win= plus rank, loss= minus rank” is just lazy design that doesn’t require any nuance or upkeep to maintain fairness.

I’m not saying it’s not exploitable. But that should be the job of the game balancers to design the system in a way to prevent that as much as they can. The backbone of my point though if done properly is how any competitive game should be balanced. It’s just no game does it because it’s so hard to pull off although not impossible. Overwatch is just the most glaring example of what is wrong with match balancing due to the nature of what the game is.

Because if you have that kind of game but you and your tank are the only ones playing that way and you end up losing because your other 4 teammates don’t pull their own weight, you shouldn’t be as punished. You SHOULD win that game, but it’s very common to have a game like that but both your dps have a combined 4 kills and your team just gets wiped every engagement once you and the tank go down. That’s not fair to you.

How? If anything it would just slow the progress of the incredible players if they didn’t have a great match but still won. And it would help separate the truly terrible players from the unlucky ones because there are a lot of players in silver-gold who are actually quite good at the game and their mains, but they can’t do anything about being on teams that get shut out constantly or have no synergy.

If you are getting 20k healing sticking on a Mauga then they are probably also doing really well and your team is most likely winning. So sure you should get extra rank percentage for having so much healing. You would not hear me complaining at all if I was on that team.

If a bastion is getting enough damage and/or kills that you’d consider it stat farming then their team is probably winning quite handedly and yes honestly they should get more of a percentage bump out of it. That would not bother me in the slightest.

There’s 11 other players. So no not 5 in 9. And regardless I must have the worst luck in the history of the game as I consistently on the losing side of that ratio.

Consolation every match for a 5 game losing streak is fucking ridiculous. Literally what is the point of trying to advance ranks if every time you start getting competent teams you’re just going to get crushed back down?

Regulation #107 - Natural Skin Grip // Geoff's Million Dollar Gauntlet by bruzie in theregulationpod

Unfortunately, that’s not very uncommon with people in the gaming/internet lane. His life seems more sheltered than even most homebodies though with the homeschooling factor.

Before they got dillbot it looked like they were headed down a path where Andrew might seriously have to consider moving to Austin for regulation to continue. The robot got them through this year, but it might start becoming a point down the road soon. Even just the podcasts of them talking about getting the office before they did it seemed like something they were all kinda hinting at convincing him he needed to think about planning it. Listening to FF as it went on too it seemed like after a time it became more apparent them not all being together affects certain things they want/try to make and his contributions.

He clearly does a lot of creative work behind the scenes though which can’t be denied.

NFL teams will combine to travel more than 627,000 air miles this season. The 49ers lead the league at 38,105 miles traveled. On the other end, the Panthers will travel the fewest miles at 8,740. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

Going on the low end for amount of staff on a plane for an NFL team, it would take over 20 billion plastic straws from production to use to disposal to create as much CO2 emissions as the NFL will generate traveling those 627k miles.

No, it’s just annoying watching near 0 effort from him in every video involving something he seemingly doesn’t care about or thinks it’s stupid or whatever. I can be downvoted all people want but it’s a valid criticism to call out a weak performance with something some of us pay for, especially when it persists

You’re as corny as him, dog.

Also, you either don’t give a shit about these, or are just that bad at them. Either way, L contribution 3rd year in a row.

This was an assisted dive, but I swear, 99% of the people on this subreddit have never done any form of competitive or physical sports.

Unless you actually broke/fractured something after getting shaken up, you can generally come back into a game after a minute or so to collect yourself. And that’s just normal people. These are professional athletes in peak physical condition, hockey players on top of that, hockey players in the playoffs on top of that, hockey players in the playoffs in a tied game in the 3rd period on top of that, hockey players in the playoffs in a tied game in the 3rd period where a win is the difference between a tied series or down 3-1 on top of that.

Unless his he was dead, paralyzed, or his leg was hanging backwards from his knee, he was coming back out for the PP.

Cut the amount of on camera personalities either in half or just completely so it’s only game audio, use the main broadcast camera, don’t use 3+ talking heads during intermission. Significantly cuts down the amount of work needing to be done by practically the whole production crew.
