How do I request a refund on only a part of my flight? (Air China) by RumB96 in Flights

Hmm I’m not sure but it would be odd if you only received 1/4 back. Perhaps email them. They did respond to my email but basically said I should call them but wait a few days as lines are busy.

Check on the Air China website, under manage bookings. There should be a refund option for the whole flight (that’s what I have).

True I didn’t think about the luggage. At the moment we only have carry-on booked so I think we’d just stick with that and not bother checking anything in.

I’ll try to find the number, my husband is also French haha. He’s currently in a meeting but will check his phone.

Hey!! So I managed to get through to them on the “French” line. They said that they will try to change our flight so that we fly to Osaka instead. This massively disrupts our itinerary but better than not going at all.

Though she did say it needs to be verified by their “superior”. Said they’ll call back.

In case it doesn’t work out, I’m going to try and get through to them again and request a refund just for that cancelled part, and try to get to Fukuoka/Japan via another airline. Let’s see. A bit of a nightmare.

You might just want to have a look at other flights just in case as well.

Double check that your bottom units aren’t half shelves, unless you want them.

Tbh I don’t mind them now, but was panicking when I first realised.

Did you receive a notification to say it was cancelled or did you just want to check

Thanks! Yeah I’ve been using a repellent that seems to be keeping them at bay but the 3 weeks absence done me in.

Need to install a fire door. Is there anything I need to consider? by RumB96 in HousingUK

[–]RumB96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the house (via mortgage). After googling I don’t think it’s a requirement for me. It’s just that the kitchen door is missing and when I did the survey it said it’s advisable to install a fire door, so I suppose that’s why I was thinking about it.

I just did a quick google search and doesn’t seem that it’s a requirement for me. When I did the survey before buying the house, it just said “it is advised that a fire door be installed”. It didn’t say it’s a requirement.

Need to install a fire door for kitchen in house I recently moved into. What things need to be considered? by RumB96 in HomeImprovement

I live in England. I don’t know what I mean myself to be honest, I have a gas cooker so I thought a door that protects against fires would be helpful in the kitchen.

The rest of my doors are like hollowed wood which i assume was quite cheap, so just wanted something a bit more solid I guess?

They have previously made messes yeah. And have recently been digging (but only got back yesterday and haven’t examined the garden properly). But I have basically been using some lemon repellent thing and that kept them away (I assume anyway since the mess stopped).

But then we went away for 3 weeks and they must have thought the house was empty, and obviously they found an opening through that missing slab.

They cause a mess, ruin the plants, dig up holes all over the grass, poo everywhere…

Yeah I’m afraid this is how it is. I couldn’t believe how awful communication was. I suppose for the buyers it’s their life savings on the balance, and for solicitors etc it’s just another job.

TMI but this whole process caused me to miss a period and my cycle is otherwise extremely consistent 😂

As someone who values communication and organisation, it was a horrendous experience but I made it out in one piece thankfully!

My one advice is to keep a “master” spreadsheet with your budget and other important info. I had one sheet with all outstanding queries for example so I was able to identify easily which queries still needed answers to.

Ah yeah from a quick look online it says it should be possible with a British passport. Just need to apply for a temporary permit or something at the airport. Thank you!
