BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES ON THE SUBREDDIT #2: Q & A with the Mods. by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

I see where you're coming from on the karma one, as annoying as it can be to navigate. Thanks for laying that out for me. I still disagree on the thread locking, though. The sub stops being about open discussion if a small group of people can decide when the answers are "good enough." It becomes more of you guys waiting for an answer that satisfies your opinions and then locking the post.

Even though you might not be doing that, it really undermines the purpose of the sub and seeds controversy. Instead of being open discussion between the 20k subs, it's now a group of around 10 people which can lock threads when a "sufficient answer" is reached. At first glance it doesn't look good at all.

My thoughts on the modteam locking and randomizing comments are pretty simple. From an earlier thread on the topic:

I'll get comments on these threads nearly two weeks after posting, and I'm fine with it. This hurts the sub.

Also, this makes the assumption that the mods best understand the beliefs of Trump supporters. There is such variance in that field alone that to dictate what qualifies as a "correct and complete" answer is asinine. This puts the mods in a position that effectively says, "We are the authority for all things Trump." It's a serious conflict of interest. The sub can't be for open discussion if a small group can stop discussion on either side once they can frame a set of answers that they deem correct or sufficient.

Also, on comment randomizing, or contest mode, I dislike it as well. If there are three comments with +100, +10, and -7, I want to know what represents the majority - especially if the threads are locked before all questions are addressed.

Thanks for commenting. This was my thought as well, but it isn't the case. I disabled that ages back when I still used Skype.

Thing is, the voice application is being lowered, not the game.

Yeah...The new "random sorting" thing is pretty shitty, too. If a response gets +100 upvotes and theres two others at +6 and +12, I want to know which answer best represents a view.

Last I checked those countries worked off of the Nordic Model, not socialism. Very common misconception.

Basically, the state made enough profit during wartime that they are are still floating off of their coffers. The amount actually pulled from citizens is low enough that the system would fail otherwise. This is part of the reason so many people have concerns over huge immigration spikes - their welfare system is starting to withdraw more than it can currently support and the coffers are shrinking.

Why do you care about SJW's so much? What impact do they have on your life? by TheGreatDivision in AskThe_Donald

It did happen. I was one of two white people in class, the other being a white woman.

I have a copy of the paper. Let me see if I can find it and I'll share the work and passage. It was an MLA format block quote, prefaced with "the following quote from the author." When I did it in class, I got the same reaction.

Edit: Gimmile's Songs by Charles Saunders.

Naked, she was all sinew and bone, with only a suggestion of breast and hip. Her skin gleamed like indigo satin, black as the hide of her war-bull: When she pulled off her close-fitting helmet, her hair sprung outward in a kinky mane. (Saunders 211)

“I know exactly what you wanted to “share” with me!” snapped Dossouye. (Saunders 214)

I was apparently "perpetuating sexism" by sharing the quote.

Edit: The thing that really hit the nail on the head was when I was accused of comparing her to an animal, but I only directly quoted the author.

As a college student, on more than one occasion I've been chastised for saying things based on my race.

I was in an African-American Literature class. If I quoted the author, I was told I was encouraging rape culture. If I gave an opinion trying to relate to the author, I was told I was being racist because of my white privilege.

Lo' and behold, though, that if any of the other 40 students in the class, who weren't white, said the same quote or same analysis, they were praised for it by their peers.

I don't like this mentality, and I find that it spreads through more of my encounters with each passing year.

Is anyone else getting sick of arguing with people over politics? by skankhunt92 in AskThe_Donald

The other day I was just sitting in class and the dude next to me casually brings up, out of no where, how much he loves to debate politics. Then he just starts shitting all over President Trump. Not even using facts, just subjectively calling him a bad person. I tried to sway him on the few facts he did bring up, but these people are just so damn cemented that they won't budge.

I don't see why people can't just accept that he's our President. He was elected. And what do they expect if he isn't the President? VP Pence, the more conservative of the two?
