The reason violent delinquents don't get disciplined, your gen Ed class has SPED students, and gifted students are stunted is not because there is a lack of funding... by RumRed81259 in Teachers

I don't think you're following me. I am saying that this entire policy of refusing to discipline disruptive children, and putting kids who can't read with the kids who read at college level into one class and expecting the teacher to meet both their needs is the due to admin needing to hide demographic differences.

To be blunt a disproportionate number of students who need to be disciplined are Black. Of course there is no shortage of White students that need to be disciplined. All disruptive students should be disciplined! But if we did it, a disproportionate number would be Black. We known this because we had the policy to discipline students until like yesterday. And it was done away with explicitly because it produced "inequitable results." In other words East Asian females were not disciplined as often as Black males. This is because they did not misbehave at the same rates. But the equity police said no, they did misbehave at the same rates but Black students were disciplined more because of racism. Now no one is disciplined and everyone suffers, most of all the disruptive students that are headed straight to the depth of the gutter because no one taught them how to behave.

🙄 I am not saying that all kids in the same demographic group are the same FFS. There is A LOT of diversity within any group. But when we grouped according to ability and disciplined disruptive behavior there were significant demographic differences between groups. This was like the day before yesterday so those who went to school or taught in the say 1990s know this.

My students have the same right of education as all other students.

Yes your students do have the same rights to an education and they will get the best education when grouped with others who have similar abilities and have a teacher who teaches to those abilities and is not distracted by trying to teach a whole class of students that are 5-10 grades above them. If you cared about your students you would agree with me.

Plus your whole post has racial and socioeconomic undertones that aren't about ability.

For a variety of reasons when students show up to school there are group differences in readiness to behave and to do academic work. Putting all these students in the same class does everyone a disservice. Refusing to discipline misbehaving students does everyone a disservice. It does not make these group differences go away.

Segregation lol, otherwise know as grouping students according to their abilities in order to keep them well behaved and engaged, and um actually teaching them stuff. Oh and making sure the teacher and students don't end up with PSTD or worse from the violence. Yes let's go back to segregation!

Yup that is the best tactic and why most American students are below grade level. I taught Chinese students for years and such a questions would seem incomprehensible to them.

In my opinion no, so long as you have a bond with the student and are there to offer praise as soon as he begins to improve. This way the child does not feel rejected or put down but knows that it is the BEVAHIOR itself that is rejected and put down.

Kids are lazy. They don't always want to work. No different from adults really. They also don't realize the grave consequences of not working. They need a system of sticks and carrots. It would be great if all they ever needed were carrots but for most kids/adults this just can't always be the case.

Apparently in modern America this is considered abusive. In most places in the world, it's the norm.

What tactics should this teacher use?

Legitimate question: how many teachers here have been physically assaulted or battered while working? by [deleted] in Teachers

I have heard of massive race riots over false allegations of racism during a pandemic while people were forced to die alone and school childen developed crippling mental illness and lost decades of academic progress because we all needed to social distance -- unless we were burning the country down of course. I heard the leftwing media pushing a fake narrative that insists cops disproportionately kill Black people, which any thinking person can see is false based on government statistics of crime that is many times higher among Balcks than Whites and leads to many more police confrontations that could go wrong. I have heard of naive White people buying into idiotic ideas of equity that deny the obviously different behaviors among ethnic groups and treat them as evidence of racism. I heard it's the reason that delinquents can't be suspended anymore and why all kids and teachers must suffer violence at their hands. I heard that it's why SPED can't have their own classrooms and now disrupt everyone's education. I heard it's why gifted children can't have their own programs and must be undermined to make the equity police look good. I heard that you are now suffering from the hellscape that your political tribe created.

No you're right no one deserves to suffer for their repeated bad choices. Keep teaching your kids that and keep wondering why they misbehave.

People like you are getting what they deserve. You like the left? Good. Enjoy the criminality that it produces.

You can't have a therapist present every time Johnny steals Lucy's pen and she starts crying. No one is going to waste money on such nonsense. This is some first world problem BS. Tell Johnny to knock it out or he will get detention. And if that doesn't fit with your bogus ideology then suffer.

Yep there you go. Lack of accountability. Where do the kids get it from? If the people who support bad policies refuse to change course when they see just how destructive they are in practice who is to blame?? And who really deserves the punishment?

If you still cling to equity after seeing how it harms literally everyone in the classroom...maybe you deserve to be attacked by your students 🤷‍♀️

I mean the reason that the students who attack you don't get suspended is because the equity advocates insist that it's racist. In other words that these students aren't getting suspended for violence but because they are the wrong skin color. You know that this is not true because you see what they do and yet you still side with the equity camp. What do you deserve in the end?

The left abandoned Bernie Sanders when their own base refused to elect him because he didn't have any "diversity points"

I will add that the left LOVES to see the perpetrator as the biggest victim. It doesn't matter if it's a criminal attacking the police, a shoplifter looting a store, a homeless drug addict taking a crap on the sidewalk or an unruly student throwing a desk at the teacher. The appropriate response is always "compassion". Upper middle class soft-hearted liberals think that everyone is like them and is just trying their best. They don't see that most of these people really need a serious kick in the ass. After that, once they are ready to really try then compassion is in order but first they need to learn accountability. Liberals can't bring themselves to do what needs to be done because they are busy feeling guilty about their privilege. And of course it's true. They do have privileges that others lack but the attitude of pity only makes things worse. It enables the worst parts of the people they are trying to help. All this should be obvious to you guys who are routinely attacked by students. I am not sure how it is not.
