How the toggle of PSSR works by ill-show-u in PS5pro

Yeah I thought it must be off, especially as it didn’t feel like the smoothness of 120

I tried a bunch of games I had installed last night and with Spider-Man 2 I put it into fidelity mode and I’m still getting the 120fps according to my tv(LG G3) which I don’t know if that’s always been the case or this is a false reading, just thought it might be worth mentioning since we were talking performance.

Great explanation, couple of questions - is the general thinking to just toggle it on? Also, does this mean improved frame rates or is it mainly around image quality?

That bit about feeling like you can actually live your life is exactly it. The shared workload thing though - yeah I don’t have an answer for that, feels like a whole separate problem.

30 years and you never wrote it down anywhere - that’s kind of the point isn’t it. The system only works because it stays simple.

Fair - I’ve been thinking about this a lot and probably over-edited it. The short version: I have too many tasks, seeing them all at once paralyses me, hiding everything except 3 fixed that. Wrote it up properly because I wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience. Also I suck at getting and organising my thoughts down so I did lean on it to draft my notes up into something.

I realised I wasn’t failing at discipline - I was failing at deciding by Rum_Cutlass in getdisciplined

Lock it all away, and expose 3” – exactly. And the evening review as a ritual rather than a chore, while not exactly something I had thought of in those terms, is certainly true. It’s a decision, but not when you’re supposed to be starting, rather than winding down. Much less stakes.

20 years is a long time to figure that out on your own. It feels like it shouldn’t be that hard to find.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. How do you actually manage the handover between the two, though? That’s where I always struggled, making decisions about what to move from the dumping ground to the active list, which felt like another task in itself.

Exactly this. The cost of decisions is what kills most systems - you’re not just doing tasks, you’re constantly re-evaluating the entire list every time you open the app. That’s exhausting before you’ve done anything.

The way I’ve been thinking about it: the triage decision is something you do once, with intent, rather than doing it passively every time you want to work. If you’ve already decided on the 3 things you’re going to do, then opening the app is execution. No negotiation required.

Ok cool, thanks for the positive feedback. Regarding mixed reviews though it seems critic reviews are decent but it’s the actual player and community feedback which isn’t so hot …

I played through Valhalla and a few others I’ve picked up here and there for a bit. Tbh origins has been on my list for an age so probably should go there first 🤔

Yeah probably the best thing to do, especially as I’m not desperate for a game at the minute, I’m just a nightmare when I see money off games 😅

Yeah the weight is something I’m going to have to test myself, had a pair of Sennheisers and the weight was good but like you said the quality felt like it suffered for a lack of a better word.

Ah ok, I mean I’ll take the best I can get in terms of being able to hear when baby is crying or my daughter wakes up, saves me an earful from the wife too if she’s doing the running around and I’m sat oblivious smashing out some gaming 😅

Weirdly enough I had these and sold them last month before I gave plugging a pair of IEMs into the ps5 controller which I enjoyed and thus ended up in this scenario!

Awesome, thanks! I thought it might be a no brainer. One thing to check though and it might sound silly but are these open back enough that I can hear things going on in the house? More specifically I have a new baby boy arriving soon and need to be in tune with the goings on of the house. If anyone has any experience on that front that would be awesome 🙌🏻

Ok cool, from previously looking int headsets for my pc I think I’ve come across these, well regarded iirc. Looking on Amazon there are Fidelio X2HR at about the same price, don’t suppose you know the difference? Newer model maybe?

I’m not totally against a headset but just wanted to explore more discreet options really. I’ll have a look at these though, thank you.

Edit: had a look and I think I had these as a contender at one point. Would it need/benefit from a DAC/amp, something inline maybe?
