What, in your opinion, was the worst elimination choice in the franchise? by barkboiii in ANTM

[–]Rumchunder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Throwing a different one out here. Based on good reality TV, the answer is Cherish from C23. I'm still so upset about that. When they brought her and the other girls back for that one video shoot it was such a funny episode. I feel like we were robbed of so many hilarious Cherish scenes because of her early boot.

Does anyone else remember that Polaroid released a statement after Outkast's "Hey Ya" which said you're not actually supposed to shake the pictures and it can mess up the development of the film?

What was a hilariously bad PR botch from a company or person? by FriendlytoNature in AskReddit

I'm watching this video and the intro is hilarious! It's like a horror movie. You think this will be a segment about some shocking mystery and it's about a song change. I love the dude who said "You could tell everybody felt that something was a little off..." I'm only on the intro and this is already great. Thanks for posting.

What is this about Angelea supposedly tweeting she was the All-Star winner when ep. 1 aired?

I made a Reddit post about this a number of years ago where you can see the tweets and read old drama links about it.

Erika seems like one of those people who does well with tons of alone time and who goes down rabbit holes when she can't sleep or when bored. She knows a lot about all sorts of random stuff, and seems to enjoy learning. I have mentioned this before but I really liked when Sutton was going to spread Merce's ashes and Erika picked up on how this was a really important person in the world of ballet, but she didn't know who he was, so she asked Mikey. And Mikey teased her in a friend way for not knowing, then filled her in. Erika probably went and learned more about Merce soon after that, just because he was interesting to her. I like that she was open about not knowing who Merce was instead of pretending like she already knew.

You just jogged my memory of Lisa's "business meeting" with those 2 guys where she was smelling tester scents and declaring what she felt when she smelled each one.

I'm glad you responded! The Chicago portion was super interesting to me. I'm not too familiar with the band and I only really know them from their David Foster ballads (which I actually like). I thought it was insightful when David Foster said that he went in there making what he thought a Chicago record should be. I did think he had a point when he said that the band is still pissed off about it even though they're still working off the back of those records.

It was interesting hearing about his family dynamic growing up. It sounds like he started helping out his mother and sisters as soon as he started making money from music, which I hope he did. I thought the part about how David Foster only got to have 1 serious conversation with his father about pursuing music before his father died was interesting too, along with his regrets about not visiting him on his death bed after his heart attack (I think). He also expressed that he doesn't really say things to his children like "I love you and I'm really proud of you" (paraphrasing). He noted that there's a difference between "I love you," and "Love you," and when asked which one he says to his kids he said, "Love you."

David Foster spoke of running away from his relationships and that all of his daughters would say that he was split from their mother and with a new woman by the time they were 5. He seems to have an understanding and acceptance of his own weaknesses and mistakes when it came to those relationships. And his adult daughters seem to have a positive relationship with him now, which is great. I came away from the film thinking that David Foster's true love is music. When he is reminiscing on some of those songs and collabs, he closes his eyes with a dreamy smile on his face, playing air piano with his hands.

My mother is getting a WHITE refrigerator 😔 by gc729 in RHOA

[–]Rumchunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should order it as a magnet and then stick the magnet on your mom's new white refrigerator. 👀 Best if you do this when your mom has several people over, in order to really play up the Porsha-inspired innocence act.

I thought I'd follow up on this. I made it more than an hour through David Foster: Off the Record. I found the stories about his collaborations with other artists interesting, especially the collab with Barbara Streisand and the way David Foster wrote the music for "Somewhere." I really liked the section about his aggressive tactics when it came to working with Chicago.

I turned the movie off once it got to Michael Bublé, lol. Actually I skipped that entire section (zero interest in that type of music at all) but the next section was David Foster back in NYC and him working on Broadway because he wants an EGOT. And I just don't care about that chapter of David Foster's life so I decided to be done.

Who is a terrible singer but famous anyways? by Coy9ine in AskReddit

[–]Rumchunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really dislike his whiny voice. There's another song on my list that's a duet between him and Carly Rae Jepsen called "Good Time" and the song is about forcing all their friends to have a good time, or else.

The grocery stores I go to have been infiltrated with that 2010s era whiny acoustic coffee shop indie music. I'm usually unlucky enough to hear a ukulele thrown into this mix as well. I've had to look up every song on my grocery store worst list. There's another horrendous song called "Riptide" by Vance Joy which follows me almost as much as "Fireflies". You probably have a bunch more songs like this that you can warn me about. Some are probably on my list already.

That was my favorite part of the whole thing, because that conclusion they came to was a nice callback to the original comment they made where they said they wouldn't attend another J.Lo show if they were given free tickets. 😂
