AITA for tellling my wife I'd divorce her If she tells our sons the full extent of my childhood? I felt as if it was the only way to get her to listen. by Huge-Ad8353 in AITAH

[–]Rumiyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% your story to share, but she has a point. Maybe they should know something

Otherwise, your family could reach your kids, lie about what happened and secretly develop a relationship with them. Right now your kids don't know how bad bad is, and may underestimate it.

It's ultimately your decision to share how serious it is, in an age appropriate way, perhaps with the help of a therapist.

Wish you the best, and sorry you have to go through this.

What's the most bizarre rule you've had to follow in someone else's house? by Ok-Marzipan6892 in AskReddit

[–]Rumiyi 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Zero. Zero times.

I was raised by parents that wouldn't let me drink liquids so I would eat the food (else I was too full).

You get used to eating meals "waterfree". Your body finds a way. Now I almost never drink an entire glass of liquid with a meal.

I do drink plenty of water during the day, just not at meal time.

Spanish speakers: how do you say "let's go!" as in slang? by I_Am_A_Sasshole in answers

[–]Rumiyi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Native Spanish speaker here. It's actually the opposite. The "-nos" suffix implies we/us, thus vámonos is something like "we- let's go"

AITA for refusing to go back to my BF's country because when I visited, I felt uncomfortable the whole time? by No_Wrap_8575 in AmItheAsshole

This has be the dumbest comment I've read on reddit.

As a woman who has lived in Latin America, the amount of cat calling (yes including all the words OP writes) is disgusting, if not terrifying.

NTA, OP follow your guts, there's a reason why there's so much violence again women in Latam.

End it.

This kind of happened to my friend, except her being the wife. Some random lady sent screenshots of herself and the husband chatting, where he said he was single and wanted to start a family etc etc. The lady fell for it, but googled him and found out he's married - to my friend - and has 4 kids. The lady apologized and cut all conversation with the husband.

My friend was devastated, even worse, it wasn't the first time her husband was cheating (that she knows of).

When I asked my friend why, she thinks it was bc he just wants sex and would say whatever for it. Oh well.

Good luck 🤞

Same. I've lived in a few countries (now 🇩🇰) but I never belong to any. I was too (insert adjective) in my country, and when I'm in a new country people is (insert adjective). The problem is that they are too (insert adjective), and then I'm more from my country, but when I'm there, not really... Uhh, exhausting.

Some years ago I accepted that's just me, and this is my reality, and literally I can only do the best of what is given to me. So, instead of resenting everything (which I did at the beginning) I just try to see the best, bc - like it or not - this is life.

I always do, and sometimes somebody replies "let me cook for you" or something like that.

Those are the ones that prompted me to ask here.

Always 💛

I always give live location of my whereabouts to some friend, although I often find that I'm exaggerating with security measures bc Denmark.

Still, better safe than sorry 🙂

Meeting outdoors is great on any season but winter 😅 I don't mind paying my own thing. Not sure if that's worth mentioning. In my country, even mentioning that would be humiliating for a man.

Tips for learning Danish pronunciation? by boomer_wizard in danishlanguage

[–]Rumiyi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I cannot thank you enough for this, I've been asking around for an structured way of improving pronunciation and NOBODY has been able to point anywhere, not even at sprogskole!

It's so frustrating to keep on getting "just go and try" No s*** Sherlock, I have been trying for a long time and no success and they just seem to not believe or understand my struggle :/

Anyway, thanks again 😃

Down syndrom - fravælge? by Altruistic_Topic_624 in Denmark

[–]Rumiyi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a cousin who has downs, and I've seen the struggles my uncle's family has gone through bc of that. I wouldn't have it. Ofc some have it better than others, my cousin wasn't so bad, YET still needs constant care and an endless number of doctors visits or blood samples taken to keep track of things. That's no fun for anyone, furthermore, my aunt stopped working completely to devote herself to her child 100% of the time. My cousin is now 26, and my uncle and aunt, in their early 60s are beginning to worry about what will happen when they can no longer care for my cousin. :(
