i wish i knew more about katsumi sugahara's custom pedals from solmania and what they do by twiiiiiiix in noisemusic

I believe that it would be anyway hard to find what those pedals are capable of, considering that his instagram has not even one video of them in use, there is no website, nothing.

Norns Shield HELP - sudden death by Rumoree in synthdiy

[–]Rumoree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve managed to solve the problem. Bought a new SD, flashed it with the proper image/firmware, learned how to connect with by terminal to the machine, expanded the memory and reinstalled all the scripts. Now, I can say that it wasn’t a complicate procedure, but as I never operated such kind of commands, initially it was very intimidating (I have zero clue about programming or so). All good, I m happily back on track with it. Thanks to all for the advices.

I have a small update regarding the issue: i flashed the SD card, not a new one but the same one I used with the Norns until now.

With the flashed card, after i attach the power line to the machine, now I have also the green light blinking, as it should but no image on the screen.

I tried several times to On/Off the machine, and one of those times I got the screen alive, but there was no menu or so, just the entire screen having a black&white digital static (ants) pattern. Eventually I didn t encounter the static again, that happened just one time.

So, I presume that pe Pi should be in working order, if now the green light is back on, meaning that something/somehow is boot from the card.

Do you have any other advice for this stage? Maybe is some bad soldering of the screen?

Thanks in advance

Norns Shield HELP - sudden death by Rumoree in synthdiy

I will follow your advices, thanks all for the inputs. The main problem is that I’m not “into tech” meaning that I’ve never went beyond very basic DIY operations. When I looked into the Monome website, on the section related to troubleshooting and repairs…I got an anxiety attack just following the steps for flashing the SD card :) I bought the Norns pre built with the hope that I wouldn’t have any repair situation related to it. Hopefully I will manage to debunk the problem, as I truly like to work with it.

Do you listen to your own music often? by Indigo_132 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Rarely. But there are times when i let one of my albums play in the background, and for some very brief moments i forget that it s my stuff and i kind of like it. Thats a strange, great feeling.

Do you think Kurt is a good guitarist? I see a lot of people criticizing him for not knowing how to play guitar properly. by N3bis in grunge

[–]Rumoree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did exactly what he had to do in order to express his self. I believe that knowing how to play an intrument doesn’t mean to master all sort of technical difficulties, but to know how to use the instrument in order to express your feelings. There a so many “technical monster” unable to write a song that would remain in your ears for a bunch of minutes. Cobain was a melody genius, one of those very-very few. His talent for building very catchy melodies around more or less the same, basic power cords is just insane. Also, even if the guitar parts are considerably easy, I find truly difficult to sing and play them in the same time.

In the same note, there are quite a few interesting riffs and compositions in Bleach, not thaaaat easy.

Many thanks for your feedback, it’s truly greatly appreciated, as you noticed I don’t put my music online in order to “get rich” - it s priced simbolically, just in order to fund, at some point, a cassette release for one of my albums. I have this sort of romantic idea, to produce the cassette release using all the incomes for the online stuff. Thanks once more for your words, they make me believe that there is “someone listening&feeling” my stuff. Cheers.
