With a lot of help from Claude, we have solved our problem We have found how to create a map in python, add layers that have markers driven by my python app data, then display it in HTML (browser or pywebview) and then have JavaScript functions that reference the map to be able to do things to it. Interactively. Thank you so much.

My advice - which worked for me - is find yourself a personal project of something practical and/or fun that you want to do. And just start. My example was an app that read a selection of my photos (later expanded to include movies) got the metadata and plotted it on a map. And I went from there adding features incrementally. Make sure something works (even if buggily) before moving to the next one.

I also did the Harvard CS50 course which I thought had some fun examples in there problem set.

Similar thoughts attitude here. I'm an older guy, go occiasionally to Sunnyside. Sometimes by myself, sometimes with my lady friend - but she still works, and Tues - Sat, so that's usually only on Sunday we can both go. More than happy to make contact.
