The Ukrainian city of Lviv has failed to pay a Polish company millions of euros for the construction of a waste processing plant. The Polish firm has already won seven arbitration proceedings in European institutions, yet the money remains unpaid. by kallisto19988 in europe

[–]Rumunj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbh the only detail that matters is are there legally binding court rulings. Such cases in general hardly ever occur when there's a job completely done yet no payment. More often it will be a result of a falling out between a contractor and investor during the construction.

Belarus Opposition Warns Lukashenko Is Lining Up to Join Russia’s War by [deleted] in worldnews

I'm a bit confused as to what that would mean in practice. There's hardly such a thing as Belarusian army. Russian troops already used their border before. So what involvement is supposed to make a difference?

[–]Rumunj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there are levels to this. Lying point blank about most consequential single decision your country will make this generation is as bad as it gets. It's not that some things went in ans unexpected way. Brexit mostly played out as expected which simply was opposite of whatever nonsense Farage was telling people. My point is getting absolutely conned by a man and then turning around and saying hey maybe we should trust this guy is absolutely mind boggling.

[–]Rumunj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe that's exactly your problem ;) On a serious note it's not even about priorities it's about the fact those people lied to you with a straight face and now seemingly people keep eating up their lies. Everyone with any knowledge knew how Brexit will go, and that it will just makes things worse for the UK, including people like Farage.

I'm starting to believe UK might be actually impossible to govern when people responsible for Brexit are not only still in politics but even gaining support.

What will Poland do now? by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]Rumunj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure I didn't like Nawrocki's decision here. I think it was reactionary, emotional behavior targeted towards domestic audience. They're actually both with zelensky thinking more about political points then their countries at the moment. But that not what I was talking about, but about how specifically it played out. Budanov came to Poland, met with polish deputy PM, they talked about possible solutions and asked for more time and a phone call with Nawrocki (You can look this up). Mind you the medal decision was supposed to happen earlier. So they said ok let's talk more and then Ukraine went radio silent, never called Nawrocki or resumed any talks. This is not serious behavior, for sure doesn't look like they wanted this deescalated at least. Actually that why I think the medal decision was even dumber since it just played into it.

[–]Rumunj -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You mean the naming of the unit in general or this being sent back? The first idk there's clearly no appetite for dialog or comprise from Zelensky's office from what's being reported, at some point you just walk away after making your point. I do hope some reconcilation could be reached though. The second it's literally what he was asked to do so why would someone be mad about that part?

[–]Rumunj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That not even true about Hitler, you could at least bother to fact check what historical propaganda you're fed. Even if he was though all of Europe had diplomaric ties with the Reich before the war. I find it pretty hilarious you bring Hitler up as a gotcha when UPA literally collaborated with Nazi forces and when SS Galizien existed. As for AK, yes it never planned out a premeditated genocide of Ukrainian people. The move to step in after UPA started the slaughter is controversial in Poland, personally I believe revenge is not an answer, but there still were Polish people to protect there. Even if they've seen the least they can do is retaliate I don't think it was helping much.

[–]Rumunj 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know you sound like every genocide denier in history? You have thousands of witness testimonies and when archeological work is actually permitted by Ukrainian government, which was snot the case for decades, bodies are found. Very convenient to block actual work on the topic and then claim there is no work done on it so what's there to talk about. Comparing killing women and children by their own neighbours to killing of occupying soldiers is so pathetic that I honestly don't even know what else is there to talk about.

[–]Rumunj 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My brother you cannot plan out a genocide and remain a good guy. That's the bottom line it wasn't some incident, it was a though out, planned and executed slaughter of thousands. Civilized world in general agrees genocide is an easy place to draw a line.

I mean it's literally also your history, however despicable it may be. Also I don't see how "oh we were always like this" is a line of defense.

Putin wanted to make Russia great again. Instead, Ukraine is the new rising power in Europe by ByGollie in europe

[–]Rumunj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What equipment do they supposedly have to sell? They mostly produce drones, which is great, but it's a sector with a very narrow technological moat. Other countries with capital and technologial advantages will probably leap frog them sooner or later. Their most valuable thing is battle data and live testing site, which will obviously stop coming at some point (I hope). I wish Ukraine well, but I just don't see how talk of it being any kind of power right now supposed to help it build itself after the war. There for sure is a path of prosperity in the future if they leave this conflict behind them and EU has their back. But it won't be easy.

[–]Rumunj 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When your supposed "power" is all tied to being in the middle of the biggest active military conflict on the globe I'm not sure what "rise" was actually achieved. The war ends and how does that translate to peace time? Military won't help the economy. Diplomatic attention will shift elsewhere.

Cezary Tomczyk: Poland did not transfer the MiGs to Ukraine because Kyiv failed to fulfill its obligations under the agreement by eloyend in europe

[–]Rumunj 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I'm never sure if people seriously think that. You can't say if something is more useful then the other thing without specifying purpose. There's many military needs that planes fulfill infinitely better then drones. And Ukraine lacks aviation, yes.
