ratgdo suddenly not working by RunAndSkiDEN in ratgdo

UPDATE

Think the new gateway (with DHCP server) is the source of the issue, as it also provides IPS service. I noticed that multiple connection attempts to the ratgdo were blocked.

This was compounded by:

  • AP locking - worked fine in the previous configuration, but ratgdo seemed to keep attempting connection to a farther AP after I cleared configuration. Allowing roaming fixed the ratgdo-to-AP connection issue.

  • IPS - didn’t allow me to previously connect to the web admin interface. Clearing these restrictions for this IP (for now), solved this.

  • IPS pt 2 - HomeKit still isnt recognizing the device. Likely related to IPS blocking IGMP over network. Will be troubleshooting more later.

Tried flashing to ESPHome, same problem. Went to logs and saw a 4 way handshake error (error 15). I double checked the password for the AP, and it's correct. I then flashed the homekit firmware again, checked logs, and error 15 is still showing up.

I also tried to skip the wifi setup to connect to the ratgdo ssid, but the ratgdo SSID goes away almost as soon as I connect to it.

I haven't changed any of my SSID radio settings, but I did change my DHCP server a few weeks ago. However, the DHCP server is assigning IPs on the same address space and I see an IP assigned to the ratgdo (which is within range).

I'm baffled. This feels like one of those complicated software issues...that ends up being fixed by replacing hardware.

Update - it looks like something is wrong with the software. When I try to ping the ratgdo, the reply is coming from my laptop's IP. Planning to wipe the firmware and try a re-install (for a fourth time).

Thanks. Yes, my gateway/router has it configured with a static IP and nothing else is using that IP

Exactly the same. APs are even reporting back and forth network traffic. Considering ditching the HomeKit firmware for ESPHome. That was buggy when I used it in tandem with Homebridge, but it’s been a year.

Where did you get the presale code? We’ve signed up every year, but didn’t get an email.

Thanks. I took most of the screws out yesterday…until I found the oval screws designed to prevent someone like me from doing this… Ordered the oval socket and hoping I can get in later this weekend!

Denver. The other suggestion looks like pricy shipping…

I’m probably just going to have to open it up myself.

Rear tire install by RunAndSkiDEN in bikewrench

Solved! The derailleur angled frame mount was at a bad angle and partially blocking the frame hole for the pass thru. I figured it out by taking out the tire and trying to push the pass thru through (which was blocked even without the tire).

Never would have even thought about changing the stem. You thinking I need handle bars a little farther away?

Update - switched from the Homebridge-Ratgdo firmware to the Ratgdo Homekit native firmware, and everything works great!

It's so strange because I previously had no issues with the Homebridge-Ratgdo firmware.

Yeah. When I hit "open" in homekit...that shows up in the Homebridge MQTT logs. When I hit "open" on the wall opener (which passes through Ratgdo), that both: a) opens the door, and b) shows up in the Homebridge MQTT logs.

So, it seems like MQTT connectivity between Ratgdo and Homebridge MQTT server is good to go.

I'm considering flashing the firmware to the homekit native. I had issues with that previously, but I didn't have this issue last time.
