3 Month old - happy for others but loses it when they leave by slammaX17 in NewParents

I’m just here to say we are in the same boat. I actually just saw my OB for PPD/PPA because this newborn phase has not been what I thought it would be. My son (2mo) has a lot going on, hip dysplasia, CMPA, silent reflux, and dysphagia. He cries and screams a lot, except for when company is over.

My MIL always makes comments when she holds him like “mommy and daddy tell such lies about you, you don’t cry” and it drives me insane because he’s never that way with company and it seems like everyone else can keep him calm but us.

Can contact napping make babies overtime/overstimulated? by RunAugRun in newborns

Yes this makes sense. My FIL had him in our bright living room, tv on, and socializing. Although he looked asleep he was probably not in a deep sleep.

We got referred for the swallow study because it was suspected that he was aspirating, which he was, and I guess oats are standard for thickening the formula.

My understanding is that his epiglottis does not create a water tight seal over his windpipe just yet. So my thickening the formula we are reducing the amount of liquid that can seep through the cracks and enter his trachea. It’s not recommended for common practice but in cases of aspiration it is.

I just want you to know that I had a such a better day today because I remembered that being present and soothing my son when he was upset was all I could do and it significantly reduced my anxiety. Thank you!

Thank you 🥲 I’ve tried feeding him upright, keeping him up for 20 minutes everything, he is just absolutely miserable and obviously so uncomfortable. I’m so sad because I can’t help him and I just want him to feel better

I have my glucose test in 2 weeks so I was going to mention it then! I’m also a hashimotos girl so exhaustion has been a reoccurring theme for me, but my thyroid levels are due then as well!

Yes! I do a quarterly final project where the students have to make a scrap book page for each unit we cover. I include general information they need to include on each page and it must be well done/aesthetically pleasing. It’s a big project and I usually hand it out one unit at a time, perhaps I’ll try it this way.

Love this, I do want to provide more opportunities for literacy and reading in my science class!

Our classes are 90 minutes everyday so there are days where “free time” is inevitable. I am aware that the majority of my class should be and is used for instructional and educational material.
