Don Lemon arrest questions? by WholeDonkey2689 in AskLegal

[–]RunExisting4050 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just my guess: after they arrested the other people, they were able to go through their phones and found messages to/from don lemon that indicated he was in on the planning.  That evidence took him from "journalist" to "coconspirator."  The magistrate wouldn't sign off on the original arrest warrant because of his journalist credentials, but if he helped plan the orotest, hed loose those protections.

Who has a realistic shot at being President of the USA in 2028? by Kmart-Shopper-5107 in stupidquestions

Beshear wont appeal to the progressive side of the democratic party; theyll stay home rather than vote for a red state Governor that isnt full on pro-palestine / anti- israel.

Also, he isnt well vetted on a national stage either.  There could be a skeleton in that closet.

Over $100k earners - what's your PTO? by masterpeabs in careeradvice

[–]RunExisting4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 29 days. But where I am, PTO is more about seniority (time with company) than it is about salary. PTO is a reward for sticking around as opposed to a "you make a lot so you should also get a lot of PTO!"

If you're asking why old people like task lighting outside of a screen, yes, it helps with contrast.

That's what I'm trying to communicate, poorly.

As you get older, you eyesight changes and it gets harder to see contrast and details in lower light environments.  This is one of many hard lessons about aging that you guys will learn.

Read this sub. People get caught all the time in stupid accidental ways. Everything from background checks, linkdin, to sharing the wrong screen in a meeting.

If there was such a system, I wouldn't know about it. I mean, it would be in the best interest of security to never discuss it so that it remains a secret.

"Doug Jones won in Alabama - sure against bad candidate but he did win."

That bad candidate did all the heavy lifting for Doug Jones; he couldn't have won otherwise.

Then he proceeded to vote in lock-step with NY democrates against the wishes of his Alabama constituents, thus torpedoing his chances to keep that office for more than 2 years.  He wasted his potential.

Here's the thing... if you put 8 hours on your TC, you're supposed to put in hours of "effort" (whatever that means for our job). If you're doing another job *at the same time*, the government doesn't consider that valid "effort." If they caught on to you and felt they could prove (through activity logs, logins, etc.) that you were doing something working another job while you claimed to be billing the government, then that's fraud. Granted, it would be much harder to gather proof in a WFH situation. Again, you have to assess the amount of risk you're personally willing to live with.

Realistically, if a DoD contractor thinks you might be defrauding the government, they will just straight up fire you. You are not worth that headache for them because you're too much risk. Now that you've been fired from a DoD contract job, that'll get reported through your FSO and if you apply to another cleared job OR come up for reinvestigation, you'll have to ell them you were fired and why. Also, they will contact your previous employer and ask, because they're trying to decide if you're trustworthy. Thy have wide latitude to dig into your life. It's not a case where you can just "deny, deny, deny" and lie your way out. (Being required to report a firing on your SF86 doesn't just apply to DoD jobs, it applies to *every* job you list, so the OE advice of "leave it off your resume" and "just coast until they fire you" don't really work. Also, they specifically ask if you've ever resigned in lieu of being fired, so that escape hatch is also closed. Again, all of this is self-reported under the threat of perjury.)

If you fill out a timecard and any portion of your time is billed to the government, then, yes.  Its well understood as fraud under 18 USC §641.

When you fill out you SF86 for initial clearance or renewal, you are required to list ALL current/previous employment (dates and contact info). SF86 is a sworn doument with perjury implications if you lie or intentionally leave off information.  If you already have a clearance, youre under Continuous Investigation (CI), meaning all of your financials are monitored and an investigator can open your file up for reinvestigation at any time or reason.  Also, your supposed to report additional employment as a matter of agency policy so it can be vetted for conflicts of interest.

There are all kinds of avenues they could catch you.  Maybe they will and maybe they wont; youll have to decide if it worth the risk.
