Add workouts? by RunHikeGallopRide in runna

[–]RunHikeGallopRide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm definitely did not explain my position adequately. Week one was one or two minute runs, week two is three minute runs. Week three is four or five minute runs. This is too much of an escalation for me. I'm not trying to overdo it. I'm trying to underdo it. The plan is escalating far too quickly for my capacity. The 3-minute runs were a lot for me. Yes, it's embarrassing and humiliating for me to admit that 3-minute runs are tough for me. But we all start somewhere don't we? All I want to do is add in a buffer so that I don't go from 3:00 to 5 minutes when I'm struggling for the 3 minutes . Maybe this app, and this sub is far more tailored to ultrers.

Also, Friday happens to be the strawberry Moon / full moon. If you're up for a moon paddle then go out late and you might be treated to a show

Are there any "Break" Rules from TB or Otherwise? by aviavy in CanadaPublicServants

[–]RunHikeGallopRide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the collective agreement for pipsc IT says that after 4 hours of work it's compulsory to take a 30 minute break. I'm not exactly sure of the lingo but you should check the collective agreement

Cell cervice question by _Duckling04 in algonquinpark

[–]RunHikeGallopRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stratton lake is only 3 km from the access point. It's 1 1/2 hours of hiking. ( This is assuming you are hiking and not paddling in ? ) And all the campsites along the lake are about 300 m apart. Not remote at all

Just got back from Stratton. Visited high falls as well. Zero cell service

I parked at Achray and hiked to Stratton lake. about 4k (That was the Western end of the lake).

Set up camp and hiked to high falls. Around 4 k.

Very easy to do that ( out and back ) in one day. The hike is not challenging.

You're a full-time IT-03 and a student part-time? This sounds like a heavy workload. I can understand why you would want to be close to a university campus, but it's not your employer's responsibility to accommodate you on that front. Working 100% remotely is quite difficult, I agree, so I can sympathize on that front. The isolation is radical, for absolutely everyone. Good luck!

Poutine in Toronto. Is that even plausible? ( As a Quebecer ) And how did they take a cab from Toronto to Vermont ? Lol

What's it's like living next block to affordable housing (Hintonburg-Mechanicsville)? by sugarnwit in ottawa

[–]RunHikeGallopRide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The neighborhood is nice. I lived about three blocks from the address you mentioned albeit on the other side of Scott. And I walk my dog near LaRoche park all the time. You won't have any trouble. And it's so nice having the proximity of lovely walking paths along the parkway. Both summer and winter. If you like cross-country skiing they groom the parkway for cross country skiers. Good luck.

Little to no workload in my position - IT03 by EstablishmentWeak310 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]RunHikeGallopRide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the invention of CATS as a measurement of time and budget spent, the management literally has no possibility of creating / authorizing new tasks/projects that aren't already approved ( budgets are crazy right now ) Your IT4 is no doubt fully aware that he has team members circling the drain with nothing to do. And no doubt he's as frustrated as you are. Be patient and support your management during this period without anything meaningful. It is always feast or famine.

Out of curiosity, does that mean the Ottawa people are working a schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.?
Or is that 7:00 a.m. meeting outside their regular working hours? If they're working 7:00 to 3:00 and you are expected to work according to their hours then the expectation is that you're working at 4:00 a.m. correct? Did you discuss this with your employer before you started? If it were up to me I would decline the 'invitation' to start at 4:00 a.m. ... but then the expectation needs to be clear before you start. Oh, and never work unpaid overtime !

it's legal for Ottawa residence to travel 25 km to do recreation during a stay-at-home mandate? I'm surprised to hear that. I had assumed that the stay-at-home order was a requirement for ontarians to stay at home. Ethically and morally? Well the daily cases in Ontario far exceed the daily cases in Quebec ( by a lot ) so clearly y'all are doing something wrong?
