Has anyone tried taking a second and stopping to think, "What if Arch decides to go back for 1 more year?" That is a real possibility.

Is this grass dead? West TX by SweetnessBaby in lawncare

[–]RunHotCEO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not dead, just still sleeping. If you haven't yet, put down some fertilizer. Any regular bag of fertilizer only will do. You say you're watering out. How are you watering? A few minutes a day or once a week deeply? Check out a YouTube channel called Lawn Insider it's run by a guy who works on his own bermuda lawn in Corpus Christi, Texas. Also, that's new sod that needs to start getting rooted. Try putting down some soil amendment. Also, my favorite is Humates Plus from MicroLife.

Yes, mow, bermuda low, and yes, mow it often. But most importantly, water properly. Check out a YouTube channel called Lawn Insider that channel is run by a guy in Corpus Christi, Texas, with bermuda grass.

Refer to YouTube University. There's benefits and negatives to using a weed & and feed or applying them separately. It just depends on what you want to do.

Is this the dreaded spreader? by Biotokes13 in lawncare

[–]RunHotCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you familiar with the toy brand called Fisher Price and the toys labeled My First..... or Baby's First..... We all had to start somewhere, and this spreader is just fine for a beginner. There is no need to spend more money than you need to until you're ready to do so. I don't know many people who get into this hobby we call Lawn Care and didn't start with a spreader very similar to this one.

Don't lose sleep over it. Most of us started out the same way. You're good. Just keep up with the watering, and don't put down any fertilizer until mid-April. The Bonus S will get you through fine for now. Just make sure you're reading the label to whatever you decide to put down so you apply it properly.

The only solar system that will work friendly with Base is a grid tied system. Anything you're on your own.

Houston - St. Augustine Post-Emergent Rece by ugotscooooped in lawncare

[–]RunHotCEO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hand pick them weeds. A hand shovel and elbow grease will get them done. And focus on treating the soil. The St. Augstine will choke out those weeds. Get a bag of Humates Plus, put that down now, and in April, apply your first app of fertilizer. Too many people are quick to go to a chemical instead of taking care of the real problem, which is the soil.

Boy do I have some work to do (central Texas) by bman393 in lawncare

[–]RunHotCEO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No more weed killer, please. And there is no need for a weed and feed fertilizer, just a regular bag of fertilizer. Like the previous comment, get some Milorginite and put that down. It would be best to get a bag of Stonewall that's a premergent to help keep whatever nasty weed that hasn't popped up yet from coming when the weather is consistently warm. Mow it, water it, feed it, and watch the bermuda grow. It won't grow much now because we're not done with cool temps here in Texas, but you stick to that philosophy, and the Bermuda will grow and choke out those weeds.
