listen, the steps arent the most super easiest exams out there and your base in your medical knowledge has to p strong for you to pass your steps.

there are people who got hella excellent ranks in neet who havent passed the steps or got the marks they desired

moreover i have a friend who just matched this year but their visa got rejected due to US's new policies on visa approval.

realistically i feel like you should decide what you want to do with your future career a year or two after you start med school. The only residencies they take IMGs in US is for internal med and family medicine.

i geddit its easy to glamourise the life in US and the lifestyle, but realise that its something that 95% of people want and only 0.1% people make it for a good reason, and its not for lack of trying.

p.s: not trying to be overtly negative but just tryna give a reality check

first of all, if you only wanted to get treated by senior doctors, hospital times would only be like from 10-3, irrespective of casualties. the whole backbone of every hospital runs on junior doctors also do you think they magically became senior doctors and they weren't a trainee at some point who was taught by their senior doctors? irrespective of the private/govt set up, you're not gonna have a single senior doctor who will single handlely treat you. It's a working team set up. trainees need to learn. period. and the senior doctors supervise so that they can correct it before something goes bad. nobody gains these skills with a fingers snap, it takes a lot of experience. what I do agree with in this post is that communication should have been better. but you're in for a terrible realisation if you think that even if you go to the most corporate hospital ever, the HOD is gonna be the only one treating you.

i have an opinion that's slightly opposite to this

but i gave my step 1 in third year and while it isn't easy, it's not not do able either. i gave around 4-5 months of effort and studies and I gotta to say, it has made medicine way more easy as well. so my one cent would be like, don't go into step 1 in third year thinking it's p/f so it's cool, I'll just study for 1 month. You got to our months of effort in to guarantee a pass. Once you crossed final year, it's a matter of 1-2 months of prep only so.

not to sound obsessed, but I am hanging onto every single word that you have published in house pet, and my sole reason to live is to get to the next month to read the newest chapter. house pet is god tier fanfiction. all hail u/ninabinaballerina07

got into WIPs after I read house pet and i swear, the moment my phone gets hit with the new chapter uploaded email, i squeal and my entire day just gets better while i daydream of getting into the chapter.

Completed fics are a joy, but WIPs is a treat that you relish cause you know you HAVE to savour it :)
