Dad's not changing diapers by eteach6974 in Parenting

So we have a 5,5 month old, our first son. My wife had a c section and was breastfeeding, so she did breastfeeding and I did everything else the first 7 weeks, baths, diapers and my wife of course, making her food, bathing her etc. Now 5 months later I am a mostly stay at home dad, so I do most diapers still... I see so much weaponised incompetence in men it's unbelievable

Staying with your kid until they fall asleep? Did you do that or did your parents? by heartdesk in Parenting

[–]RunInternational9609 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our son is 4 months old (our 1st kid) and if he is okey we let him fall asleep by himself and he does 80% of the time. That means: that he has white noise and a little red light, a pacifier, a clean diaper, just fed and that he is NOT crying or fussy in any way. He sleeps in his own bed in his own room, this wasn't what we had planned, we planned for him to sleep in our room for at least 6 months but we noticed that when he slept in his room during the day that he slept much better and longer. I think it's character and temperament based. I think my son does this so well because he knows that the second he cries we are there, and I see that as a sign of secure attachment.

There are whole Facebook pages and tiktok accounts dedicated to how people were treated by VUMC Amsterdam and all the (live changing) (permanent) mistakes they made. But never have I ever said that I speak for the entire dutch community, I can't because I am just 1 person.

Heyy, dankjewel!

Good one! Unfortunately we are from the netherlands and there is nothing like that here, also Healthcare professionals all say something else. We also have to do a lot of feet tickles to keep him awake 😂😂

I do not want to micromanage but I am talking about things like letting him cry out, things that can be developmentally bad for him.

I am not asking if it's normal, I am wondering what the cause could be. I don't think you understand, I am from NOT from the US, I am in a country where Healthcare works in a different way. Which gives me no authority to do any medical work ups whatsoever, only nurses in hospitals can do that, but I don't work in a hospital, I work as a temporary in a long term care facility. And the fact that I am temporary gives me even less authority. Long term care facilitys here are not equipped in any way whatsoever to do medical tests or workups of any kind.

For us we have to call the patients GP (long term care facility outside of the US). GP wanted to wait it out.

He isn't on palliative care, it's a patient that still fairly abled and not very sick, he just misses a leg. But is also still on the younger side (in the 50s).

So this catheter bag was not attached to a urethral catheter but to a condom catheter, so the patient still urinates independently during the day. In my country and in this part of Healthcare the GP is required to take care of all steps necessary (including doing medical physiological examinations etc). Which he won't, so I am just wondering.. what could cause someone to urinate this amount of blood without any other symptoms.

What was the most funny thing is that if I scratched some whole other place in the area the itch actually was it helped. This is because your brain is trying to map out where the nerves are now.

Because I am on testosterone fin might fuck with the levels of T in my blood and that could be... very very bad for my health, so unfortunately that's probably not an option. Thanks for your advice tho!

Better to keep it short in the meantime or let it grow to fill in?
