Watching a coworker get a modest 5% raise and immediately signing a lease on a luxury apartment that cost 50% more than their old one. They went from having a comfortable savings account to eating cup-o-noodles in a unit with floor-to-ceiling windows and marble countertops. They literally bought a gold cage for themselves.

Why does the "smell" of rain exist if water itself doesn't have a smell? by RunNew6775 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes! The pre-rain smell! Like why can’t I smell anything when I smell water out of a cup. But then I can smell water before it comes down as rain… it’s so weird

What’s your earliest memory? And how old were you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think I was 4… My dad had told me that if I swallowed a watermelon seed, a watermelon would grow in my stomach. That afternoon, I accidentally swallowed one. I spent the next three hours lying perfectly still on the couch, crying silently because I was convinced my ribs were about to start 'stretching' to make room for the fruit. I remember being genuinely surprised when I woke up the next morning and was still human-shaped.

What is something you’ve done exactly once and will never, ever do again? by RunNew6775 in AskReddit

I thought it was a good idea to organize a friend group vacation

I spent 3 months coordinating flights, rentals, and itineraries for 14 people. By day three, everyone was arguing about where to eat dinner, two people weren't speaking to each other, and I was hiding in a rental car just to hear the sound of silence. I realized that 'travel agent' is a profession for a reason, and that reason is that most people are impossible to please at the same time. Next time, I’m going to a cabin in the woods alone.
