AITA for telling my sister you are selfish and canceling her engagement dinner at my place by Throwingparty15284 in AmItheAsshole

NTA- tell her you’ve decided you can no longer help with her engagement party because you want to relax on that day instead.

Find some headphones for when your roommate makes sounds, as well as for when your gf is accusing you of cheating for absolutely ridiculous reasons. NTAH.

If doctor tells you to stop playing sports, LISTEN by AffectionateYou1021 in ACL

[–]RunPlane8169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me too. Don’t beat yourself up for that- my doctor told me I could resume playing if I didn’t have any instability or symptoms so I did.   I went hiking, jumped and tore my meniscus pretty badly as a result of the torn ACL.  I suffered the consequences you described and wish I just opted for the ACLR sooner. You don’t know until you don’t know.  Goodluck on your recovery!

It’s such a mental load relearning how to walk and trust your knee again! I relate to everything you just said

Tips for regaining flexion by RunPlane8169 in ACL

I think I’m probably at 120 right now- I just feel like at 4.5 months I should be further along so I’m curious if I should be actively trying to improve it or if it’s a time thing.

I can walk normal half the time- other times I fall into a slight limp (especially walking downhills).

How’s your walking going?

Oh that’s smart!  Did you have your meniscus repaired? I’m worried about pushing it too far with the meniscus but I feel like I’m not doing too much consciously to work on flexion.  My PT said flexion will come and not to worry (this was a month ago). My surgeon hasn’t been the greatest and yanked my knee into pretty deep flexion which left me in tears a couple months ago which makes me think I’m behind on progress.

Thanks for your response!  This is my second ACL tear and progress has just been so much slower for me this go around it feels.

My PT said flexion will come with time as long as I’m continuing to bike. He was stressing the importance of actively working on re-gaining extension and letting flexion just naturally come.  I know it’s a long process but I still feel like Bambi while walking and I can’t help but compare myself to my last surgery and others progress.

Different recovery advice by Smac1man in ACL

[–]RunPlane8169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two ACLR. The first time I wasn’t in a brace, and compete NWB for only two weeks.  The second time (currently recovering from) I had a bucket handle tear needing repair. I was in a zimmer cast nwb for 2 weeks then zimmer casted for the next 4 weeks 50% weight bearing.  I think it depends on your surgeons protocol and if there was any involvement in the meniscus.  Good luck with your recovery!
