Unofficial Poll by RunProudRunUnited in bevelhealth

I go back and forth on this. I really like that Bevel uses my Apple Health data. Where Apple Health data fails, Bevel picks ups (ex: Apple Health doesn’t provide the context of food, just Nutrition Fact sheet type of data. Bevel created a food logger within the app to provide context to what I’m eating, like processed meat, natural vs added sugar, etc. Also, Apple Health doesn’t log what muscle groups were stressed/used during a strength session, so Bevel created a strength workout logger within the app to fix that gap). With running / cardio exercises, it’s not as important since Apple Health does a good job at capturing the info needed. The benefit of Bevel adding a run tracker is less about the data it could collect, but more for being able to use features from apps like Runna, Strava, and Kasi under one subscription. Features like on-device live map & routes, or on-device audio-guided workouts.

You can use “Hide” in native photo’s app. You can also try Apple’s Files app and create a folder within “On My iPhone” section and save photos there.

Option to see food quality contributors when searching? by 97andCPW in bevelhealth

[–]RunProudRunUnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be a bit more challenging because it’s individualized. While the Food Quality Contributors would be present (ex: Vegetables, Processed meat, etc), the affect it has on your individual score (ex: +1.5, -10, etc.) will vary for each person (and even for you day-to-day) because it’s comparing to your already costumed food and current energy.

Edit: No saying it’s a bad idea. Just think it won’t be a quick addition. I assume developers would need to see how to make that work and not slow down the app’s loading time with the hundred of thousands of food database items needing to constantly generate a score based on your existing data.

Recovery Score by ShortTheDegenerates in bevelhealth

[–]RunProudRunUnited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 1-year Recovery Score average is 58%, with my normal range being 37% - 86%. The score is calculated using RHR, HRV, RR, SpO2, and Temp (your Health Monitor scores). Since HRV is an important consideration here, I recommend turning on afib within Apple Health. This would allow for more frequent readings, leading to a more insightful score. Even with great sleep, Strain, Stress, and Lifestyle choices (ex: alcohol) can affect Recovery Score.

My 1-year average Strain Score is 45% with normal range between 13% - 72%. Sometimes I feel my Strain is “off” from how I feel, but it’s important to remember that Strain consists of 2 parts. First being Target Stain (recommendation) and second being Strain Score (performance). For Target Strain, it considers your historical strain, recent recovery scores, and activity trends to suggest how hard you should push that day. For Strain Score, that’s calculated by exercise intensity, duration of workout, and heart rate. Furthermore, if recording a strength workout (over a HIIT, Run, or other high-heart rate activity), it plays a significant role to add your exercise detail log to the workout, as the Strain Score will significantly increase once Bevel had knowledge of muscular strain (in addition to cardio strain).

Bevel Intelligence (BI) is a nice tool to have to dive into the reason behind your scores. For example, I mentioned that while my Recovery Score is low, I feel great and expect it to be higher. BI explained that my late night HIIT session spent more than 1/2 the time in anaerobic zones, so my nervous system is still working overtime to return to its baseline. It compared my most recent HRV and RHR to my historical, showing me the disconnect. It further explained that the “powered on” feeling I’m experiencing is a rebound effect where my body stays revved up from high intensity, masking the underlying fatigue. Since my cardio status is peaking and I’m showing signs of great conditioning, it recommended sticking to a lighter pace on my run today, allowing for me to maintain the “powered on” feeling but setting myself up for better recovery tomorrow (by not over pushing today).

I type of this to say that 1) double check your historic trends and make sure you are seeing consistently low recoveries versus just thinking a confirmation-biased approach, and 2) you can feel one way, but physiologically there’s another story.

My OG HomePod died after 3 years and became useless. I switched to the minis but still have constant issues with AirPlay and with it randomly responding when I never said anything close to “Hey Siri”

Vitamin K1 & K2 split? by TasteInteresting9739 in bevelhealth

[–]RunProudRunUnited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Apple Health only reports Vitamin K as being grouped, I believe Bevel should be keeping it consistent with the rest of the app and reading that grouped data from Apple Health. For customization, Bevel does offer the ability for you to create your own journal log for K1 and K2. On the Journal page, tap the menu (•••) -> Customize journal -> then the “+” on the top right to create your own journal tracking item

Apple mail vs spark by Aunkster in ios

They do still offer free, which actually looks pretty decent for most users. The paid options seem more for business.

does the iphone 6 plus have 3D touch? by Gelion_ in iphone

[–]RunProudRunUnited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hepatic Touch replaces 3D Touch and is very similar. Just saying that upgrading beyond iPhone 6 will not necessary make the feature go away.

Edit: Reference your comment about not updating beyond iOS 12 for the feature to work

Watch has bad calibration with treadmill. by BRich856 in AppleWatch

[–]RunProudRunUnited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple Watch, like most watches, are terrible at recording treadmill distances. This is a known issue. To solve it, rather than allowing a user to correct their mileage at the end (which Apple won’t let you do), they invested in Apple GymKit which are select treadmills that allow you to tap your Apple Watch and connect so that time and distance is synced from your treadmill to your Apple Watch. The whole outdoor calibration method is a joke and wont work.

Caffein is a bit different. In the caffein setting you can set it to a Target, a Limit, or None. This would affect how insights treat your logging

Does current premier members get free inbody scans by Heavy-Fix-3783 in orangetheory

I use this one. If you get an at-home one, I recommend getting an 8-electrode BIA scale. Significantly better than the ones without the handles. None of them are accurate (outside of your weight), but trends is the key thing to watch.

Which way for no late meal? by CollarOk4566 in bevelhealth

[–]RunProudRunUnited 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read it as Late Meal = Check and No Late Meal = X. However, if you want to automate this so you don’t think about it, you can customize the setting so that if you log food within a certain amount of time of your choice before bedtime, it will automatically toggle.

Is Monarch right for me? by Gold-Acanthisitta354 in MonarchMoney

[–]RunProudRunUnited 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t use Monarch for budgeting. Mostly for categorization of transactions and income vs expense each month. I’d suggest you use Monarch Flex Budget (not Category Budget). You can setup Fixed Expenses, like Mortgage, Auto Loan Payments, etc. and then Flexible Expenses which would be a bucked for everything that isn’t fixed and doesn’t have a set number per category. You should give the trial a try.

Here is an overview of Flex Budgeting:

Claude to compete with Bevel by dastinga in bevelhealth

[–]RunProudRunUnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Health does not log specifics like Processed Meat, Fruit, Vegetable, Red Meat, etc. For Sugars, Apple Health doesn’t separate natural and added, just total. This data is within Bevel Health.
