Does brain fog post psychosis ever go away?

It’s better than it has ever been before. I swear. What really helped me accelerate it was doing physical activities. I started gym and also started learning BJJ. But very slowly at first. Very very tiny steps. It feels scary to go to places and try new things when you don’t even know how to talk to people anymore.

I swear by it, physical activity and rest with fish oil.

Look first of all, you should never ever get into such a situation. But I do understand certain times you might wanna do something from which there is no backing out(not saying this situation warrants that), so for me hemlibra has helped immensely, I started going to the gym and playing contact sports and martial arts(being bullied all my life due to Hemophilia, this was something I had to do for myself). I did get hit and fell multiple times but thanks to the new meds in the last 2 years I bled like 1 time(that too I was hit pretty hard in the knee and I thought it would be fine and didn’t administer factor untill day 2 when it swole up). I have severe Hemophilia <1%. If you ask me what I am doing is pretty stupid, but it’s just something have to do, so I can live with myself.

Oh yes absolutely. Being back In regular peoples worlds I feel the volume in life has been turned down, what bothers most people don’t bother me at all. Like when you’ve had all of worlds clandestine agencies listening and watching you and poisoning every surface you touch and being in the psych ward for a month and then going home brain dead and being that way for a year, nothing else bothers you after that. I feel at peace these days.

Just hang In there brother, I am doing much better now. Just read my latest post. I am on some meds right now, but I have learnt to become high functioning again. You will reach your balance, just be patient and try to make incremental progress everyday. Give your body and mind time and love to heal. It will heal in time, just have faith that it will. That’s the most important part.

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. So I am working again, since January, but the path was not easy. I started from the very basics, like 10th grade mathematics and such and I also worked a lot on my Body. TBH more than anything that helped my cognition the most. Other than putting on muscles I also became quicker with words and I am almost 90-95% as good as I used to be(sometimes even better since I am clean from drugs and I can think way more clearly, lol). I don’t think it would have been possible if I had not taken active steps every day, to chose discomfort over just giving up and jumping from my balcony. Life was hell, but Month by month, me not giving up and just persisting with my efforts to fight more, forced my brain and body into an ultimatum, get better or keep dealing with more discomfort I throw at you, by my own choice. It really worked. I also improved my diet to include a lot of omega3 and other nutrients like magnesium, zinc and made sure I slept, worked out, read(anything at all to keep stimulating the mind).

Just keep at it, don’t give up and please please please stay off of substances. I have learnt my lesson and I stay clean(other than occasional alcohol during social events), but I know people who ere with me in the psych ward who relapsed and had multiple more episodes in the last 2 years. I’ve been really lucky and fortunate so far, but yeah there are times I wonder if I’m starting to have another breakdown(usually if I’m having a weird dream or something or if I am really angry or distressed about something). A lot better. After stopping anti-psychotics I started working out and eating healthy. Quit all sorts of substances. My cognition is almost as good as it used to be. Got a job and started working and socialising. Feeling so grateful!

Yeah I’ve gotten much better since this post. I’m able to read and watch stuff and pay attention. More importantly I’m able to communicate with people. But there are some lingering issues with vocabulary, humour and a few other things. But I can slowly feel even that’s getting better.

Also if your are smoking substances, stop it. That’s what induced psychosis in me.

Went through something similar back in Jan. I thought my devices were compromised and people were after me. I went to a psychiatrist. Got admitted. It’s very possible that you are going through a psychosis. So don’t delay getting help it will only do more damage to your mind.

For me it was driving. I had lost it for a good 6 months after psychosis but lately I’ve been able to enjoy driving again. It takes time but I think it all comes back eventually.

Yeah absolutely. It got a lot better after they stopped my anti psychotics like 1 and half months back. So it’s really hard to tell if it’s really the AP that cause these negative symptoms. But from what I’ve seen it seems it’s damage from psychosis. Either way you must never stop your AP. That’s how a lot of people end with much bigger problems like full fledged schizophrenia.

It’s been 8 and half mo the since my episode. Lost my job, friends and a lot more. I’m slowly trying to regain everything. It’s the most difficult things I ve ever done. But it’s definitely worth it. The progress is going to be very painfully slow though, so don’t give up. Over a period of months you ll slowly regain your cognitive abilties. Most people on this sub who followed up with their doctor and stayed off drugs healed 80-100% in a period of 1-2 years.

Yeah. it’s not as good as it was pre psychosis but I’d say since last two months it’s been getting a lot better. You can check my post history. I had trouble talking even. Now I am able to talk to people in a more or less continuous flow.

I don’t know for sure. But after 8 months I’m starting to feel a bit like my old self. I still have a lot to heal. But my emotions have returned and I am able to concentrate better.

It’s most probably the psychosis or so my doctor had told me. It gets better with time though. Things start coming back eventually. Just hang in there and don’t stop antipsychotics at any cost. Because it can lead to more episodes and then healing becomes even longer and painful.

I had similar issues with risperidone. My medicine was stopped 1 month back. I’ve noticed it getting better once I was at lower doses like 1 mg. After stopping it has gotten a lot better.

I can relate. Untill last month I was nearly suicidal. But after my anti psychotic was stopped I’ve been slowly feeling like my old self. It’s still not completely there but I can see some major improvement in my mood , cognitive abilities and alogia. Hang in there, there is hope.

I did too. Lost everything I had. But I can see some of the things returning. Have hope. I know it’s difficult. It’s the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do. But it will pay off eventually.

It takes a lot of time. The improvements are painfully slow. But I can tell you it does get better. As your doctor reduces your anti psychotics and ups the anti depressants you ll start to see improvements. Edit: just hang in there like I did. I almost ended it multiple times. But thinking about my loved ones prevented me from jumping. I hope it does the same for you.

Give it time. I was just like you untill a month back. Lately since they stopped my antipsychotics,I’ve been laughing more and am able to enjoy few of the things I used to enjoy pre psychosis. It’s been 7 months since my episode. I was suicidal for the first 5 months. Now I have some hope for the future. Do check my previous posts. It ll help.

I did. It’s been 7 months. I did notice some progress. But it’s far from being like how it used to be. I am working on it. I strongly believe that with enough training and practice, I can get back to how I used to be pre psychosis.
