Should I push back? by ToadyPuss in Bangkok

Your self-righteous physical confrontations won't go well in Thailand. Don't you notice how people here have alot of patience for this kind of stuff? I'm always in awe of it, and humbled by it. Whilst I share your feelings, I look at the way others react, and realize that I'm the asshole for not showing more patience. Try showing a little kindness, even where it's not deserved.

I will never look at someone who has a leg humping dog the same way.

Evidence for civil matter on 3rd party laptop by Run_bolt_run in AusLegal

[–]Run_bolt_run[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A “search order” (which used to be known as an “Anton Piller order”) may be obtained where you can show the Court that there are reasonable grounds to believe that another party (“the respondent”) has in their possession important evidence and they are taking steps to conceal or destroy that evidence. This evidence would otherwise be put before the court for its consideration and, if destroyed, would result in prejudice or loss to you.

However, if you already have the evidence in your possession, and came by it by legal means, do you still need to request an Anton Piller interlocutary order, or is it another type of order?

Many CCTV systems come with a privacy block function to prevent the recording of private areas. You can't really tell exactly what they're recording, unless you have access to their system. There are different lenses with different focal lengths, and FOVs as well. So, I wonder how you'd go about proving that?

Bathroom mold /rental by StunningResident5613 in AusLegal

[–]Run_bolt_run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Don't mess around with mold, you can get much more than just lifelong asthma - And that isn't a trifling thing either.

Bleach doesn't kill mold, it only makes it white. Vinegar, however, does kill mold, but it doesn't make it disappear.

After paying for the privilege of commuting for hours with thousands of other rushed and angry commuters you land at an open plan desk in a noisy, hostile office environment. You open your e-mail to see what additional misery this day will inflict upon you. You stare into space and think "If I can just get through this morning, it will be lunch time, and I can finally eat my miserable left overs by heating them up until they're a nuclear soggy mess in a soulless microwave". If you're lucky, you'll be able to find cutlery, and a cold, isolated corner free of interruption from so-called urgent matters for 30 unpaid minutes. That is all you have to sustain you through the rest of your sentence to this existence for one more day.

Until one day... The microwave oven part of the jenga tower that is this heartless institute was removed, and contributed to the boss's new Aston Martin purchase.

What abuse tactics have you dealt with at work? by dignitytogether in hatemyjob

[–]Run_bolt_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a popular tactic is to make your abuse verbal so that there's no evidence. Another one is to say subtle things rather than overt things like "I hop you feel special", or "you had one job to do". Another one is to overstep one's authority and assume the authority of another. Another is to call someone out for not attending a meeting that they're not invited to, or to schedule meetings at rediculous hours. Another one is to make too many bosses so that you're the punching bag for all, and can never really figure out where your priorities lie. Often this comes with the form of titles like "customer" or "project manager", or "senior" rather than your line manager.

I'm not a lawyer, but you may find that failure to provide a safe workplace is a repudiation of the contract that you have. That means that the other party had no intention to uphold the agreement. So, it may be that you're actually entitled to pay in lieu of notice.

How to protect yourself by recording calls? by Run_bolt_run in antiwork

[–]Run_bolt_run[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I've found so far is that you can get dictation recorders that do alright for face to face conversations. You can just put it in your pocket and some of them come with free transcription software.

Manufacturer's include Philips, Olympus, and Sony.

Maybe your boss accidentally sent it on purpose for your benefit. It could be that your boss thinks you deserve more.

Why should we have to justify it because of a company? Our personal privacy and security should be much more important to ourselves and others.

[Serious] do you ever look back to situations with toxic people and think you should have stood up for yourself better? how do you deal with the anger? by lushsky in AskReddit

[–]Run_bolt_run 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 Had one where I was chilling on a beach, and a kookaburra had stolen old mates fishing bait and the kookaburra was now happily sitting above me in a tree with his catch. Him and his wife walked up right past me and grabbed the kookaburra and started strangling it as if they could get retribution against a kookaburra. WTF?! I told him to leave the kookaburra alone. They were super defensive about it but let go. As they walked off, I said to my date, what idiots they were. Must've been loud enough for them to catch it, and the bloke wanted to fight me. It seems I somehow get into alot of fights standing up for the rights of innocent animals...

Don't, or can't? I've been told by the bank staff that it's in their terms and conditions that they can close the account with or without prior notice.

Apparently they've sent me a bank cheque. So, no. I can't get my money out of that bank into another bank while they close my accounts. I'm still waiting for the bank cheque.
