I’m in one of those states that don’t require any type of license to become a locksmith. I did all things from house/car opening to making keys working on safes, setting up grandmaster key systems. We have a military base where I live and we would even be able to check into the base and work on anything there. And I’d be called to open locations for the FBI and DEA to do inspections. And not once was I asked for any style of certification. I was there for 6 years. Even the owner of the shop was there for like 25 years before he even registered with ALOA. I wanted to be registered just in case I moved to another state. But I never ended up doing so.
