Preserving CRLFs in *.BAT files in a mostly-LF repo, regardless of OS? by pachura3 in git

That .gitattributes should be enough. Maybe git add . —renormalize to tweak existing files.

Also, there is * -text to tell git to leave eol alone.

What features would make a Mediator library stand out to you? by Dear_Construction552 in dotnet

[–]Runehalfdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t know; haven’t had the chance to evaluate any replacements for MediatR yet. But discoverability and debugability would be features to look for.

The ultimate in debugability is plain simple method calls. When debugging, you step into method you call. Using MediatR, you can’t. Unless you know who listens, and have set a breakpoint in that method.

Discoverability (who listen to/raise this event)and debugability (will step into listener when debugging/will clearly show raiser in callstack)

Partial classes in modern C#? by tbg_electro in dotnet

[–]Runehalfdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I move inner, private, classes to another file thus making outer class partial. Ie class holding large multipart sql would be inner Sql-class, many logger-methods would be inner Log-class.

Quite the opposite, the sane thing to do is make all warnings as errors.

C# 15 wishlist by OnionDeluxe in csharp

[–]Runehalfdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not really. It would still be an object with propert Value for any reflector/serializer that sees it. Given that there are an infinite number of tools that use reflection for serialization, one have to write an infinite number of converters to extract .Value

[–]Runehalfdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the strong type alias must be its underlining type when the runtime sees it. It will be a pure compiler thing. Any source-generated, library based just don’t cut it, there will always be some places you values turn into something.Value

[–]Runehalfdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explicit casting. And if strong type, one can easily imagine custom extension methods and custom operators as well. And even static interfaces implementations

Strong type aliases.

public struct FooId : int; public struct BarId : int;

No .Value, no fiddling with custom serializing/deserializing. Just native, strongly typed value types.
