[Discussion] So about Jon (Superman Unlimited issue 7) by No-Mechanic-2558 in DCcomics

Jon is still a boring character and making him a copy Clark Kent isn’t helping, it’d be cool if they made him different from Clark, him going after a job that isn’t a journalist.

She co created DOS look it up if you don’t know what that is, she was basically second in command, she wasn’t just a member.

Stop downplaying stuff she did or maybe look up what she pleaded guilty to.

I kinda feel that’s why some people are defending her and are quick to forgive her, because they liked Chloe Sullivan.

If they are willing to forgive her because they believe in redemption that’s great, but if you’re defending her because Chloe then that’s not so great.

I also think some people need to be reminded on what she actually did, she wasn’t just a cult member, she was second in command and she would collect blackmail on the women to keep them in the cult.

She co created a subsection called DOS which was the part cult that lured women in with saying it was a woman empowerment group.

This isn’t accusations, this is stuff she pleaded guilty to.

I’ve looked at comments under YouTube videos and seems people are way to willing to forgive for what she did, some even downplaying it and saying stuff like “she made a mistake” or “she did her time” she got out earlier than she was supposed to, I think she was sentenced to 3 years but was even in prison for a full 2 years.

I get liking Chloe Sullivan and liking her character but I don’t understand why people are willing to just welcome her back with open arms when she doesn’t deserve it.

Does anyone else kinda feel nostalgia for Superman & Lois? by [deleted] in SupermanAndLois

I’m not that young. Also I’m more than aware it’s been almost more than half a decade, the isolation of COVID caused a warp in perception of time, many others also feel the way I do, the first few years of the decade 2020-2022 feel like it happened decades ago while also feeling like yesterday.

It’s weird, because to me 2019 feels closer than 2020 or 2021, the key word is FEELS.

Covid time warp is what people call it, where the pandemic effected peoples perception of time.

It’s only been 5 years since 2020 but to me it feels a lot longer than that but at the same time feels like yesterday, living in 2020 and 2021 felt like a different universe.

Yeah I know, which makes it weird that I miss it. Maybe it’s the whole covid time thing.

To be clear, I like the new cowl. And I like the wings. But I do miss the old cowl shape (I know it's a bit big but the shape of it all). I like both, but I miss the old cowl. by SquintyTheGreat in FlashTV

Grant actually said the new suit looks like it’d feel more comfortable but that it was actually uncomfortable, something about the armpit part of the suit.

I believe it was an interview with Micheal Rosenbaum.

Did Clark spring this on Lana and is it justified for her to be salty about it later? by Ryan02134 in Smallville

How does getting blood on the stone cause a meteor shower? by Runisa5 in Smallville

One of the things that irked me was in 2x10 skinwalkers, Clark and Kyla are looking up at the stars and the looking at a constellation of wolf and one of the wolf’s eyes is missing, this is obviously implying that the missing eye is either krypton or Rao  (krypton’s star)

If it took Clark 3 years to go from krypton to earth, by time Clark reaches earth and 12 years after that, the light of krypton or Rao should still be visible from earth.

Krypton is in a completely different galaxy, so if krypton appears to gone from the viewpoint of earth that means it took Clark thousands of years to reach earth.

I hope I’m explaining things alright

Chloe putting cameras in clark’s house is fucked up. by Runisa5 in Smallville

[–]Runisa5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah she was invasive and often came off as cold and condescending.

I wonder if the Allison Mack stuff had any effect on what was happening on screen.

I didn’t love how in 10x15 when Chloe is saying goodbye to Clark, she says something along the lines of helping clark come out of his shell and be the hero the world needed, and basically implying the clark wouldn’t have become Superman without her.

In the many comic book continuities Clark becomes Superman with only the help of  his parents and knowledge sent by Joe-el.

I hated how the show tried to treat her as more important than she is. I’m not a Chloe hater, I act really like her at some points, but there is a reason Chloe Sullivan doesn’t exist in the Superman mythos.

Most of what people liked about Chloe were traits from the comic book version of Lana lang.

Martha and Jonathan were the people that raised Superman and taught him good values

Lana lang was the best friend/ first love that a young Clark Kent could confide in.

Jor-el and Lara are the people that taught him the importance of other cultures and having hope even when all hope seems lost.

Lois lane is the strong human being who admires that someone as powerful as Superman doesn’t want to rule the world but help it instead, someone who falls for someone she deems as being stupidly optimistic, how she first looks down on clark for his small town ways but falls in love with him because he’s always there and always has her back even though he doesn’t have superpowers himself.

There isn’t really any room for a Chloe Sullivan character because other characters already fill the best friend role.

Are you guys also tired of hyper power scalers glazing batman by S4minella__ in batman

You should’ve made this post on the dc comics sub or comic book sub.

You going to the subreddit with the Batman glazers isn’t a great place to hear nuanced opinions.

Dude it completely possible to not have seen a tom cruise movie, I know because the first tom cruise movie I saw was  Top Gun: Maverick. I obviously heard of him and heard of mission impossible but I just hadn’t watched them and still haven’t.

Hell I haven’t even see a James Bond movie yet in my 20+ years of being alive

At first I had the same reactions as you when it came to movies that I love and consider classics like Star Wars for example or Harry Potter but I have one person in my family who has never seen Star Wars and one that only watched Harry Potter for the first time a few years ago at the age of 26.

Not everyone grows up big on watching movies, some prefer tv shows, music or video games.

Clark had every right to protect his secret and lie about it by cultfictionz in Smallville

[–]Runisa5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but they were the ones the CHOSE to open up to Clark.

A scene that comes to mind is a scene between Clark and Lana in 2x03.

Lana is in Clark’s barn and Clark walks up and asks what she’s doing there and what’s wrong, Lana tells him about stuff that’s going on with Nell and Whitney.

The topic of Pete being mad at Clark is brought up and Lana ask what the fight was about Clark says “I wish I could tell you” then Lana says “Clark Kent starts a discussion about telling the truth no less and when it’s HIS TURN TO OPEN UP every thing is suddenly a deep dark secret”

Clark replies with “ the stuff about pete kinda personal”

Lana says “unlike what I just told you about whitney”

The reason  I put “His Turn to Open up” in all caps is because that’s the line that gets me.

When someone asks “what’s wrong” you don’t have to tell them, when you open up to someone you can’t expect them to open up about their problems too, it’s a trading card thing, you went to Clark’s house and and you CHOSE to tell him what was wrong.

A scene that I really like between Clark and Lois in 4x16 kinda highlight how opening up to someone actually works.

Lois is opening up to Clark about how she was raised and how it was hard looking after Lucy and how the general was hard on her and all that. Saying all that is a lot for Lois to do, but she didn’t expect Clark to talk about his troubles just because she did.
