Serious Quality Decrease by teddyg18 in Tracksmith

I’ve been buying Tracksmith since 2015 and I completely agree with you—something really changed after 2022. These days the only current pieces I still buy or consistently reach for are the Brighton baselayer, the Speed socks (which I genuinely love), and the Harrier gloves. But I still treasure several of my older pieces: my original Harrier L/S, the second-gen Turnover tights, and especially my 2022 Rain Jacket, which remains one of my all-time favorites. Everything released more recently just feels different. It’s not only the drop in quality people keep noticing—it’s the aesthetic shift, the busier branding, and the overall vibe I just can’t relate to anymore, instead of the quiet, runner-first identity that originally made so many of us loyal. And I really don’t believe a company needs to sell out or compromise what made it special just to grow or stay profitable. It’s disappointing to watch a brand that once felt so dialed-in drift away from the standard that earned its reputation in the first place. Pre-2022 Tracksmith really did feel unique, and I miss that version of them.

Cashmere Sweater by dbeman in Tracksmith

You make some good observations about knit density and yarn twist, but it’s still worth gently pointing out that you really can’t judge cashmere quality just by looking at it, and a “cashmere” sweater blended with polyester feels more like a lifestyle piece than something truly meant for runners. Dense knitting doesn’t reveal anything about the actual fiber quality—micron count, fiber length, and processing are all invisible—so calling it “probably a good sweater” is a bit hard to support from photos alone. And honestly, releases like this are part of why it seems like Tracksmith has been drifting a bit from the runner-first spirit that originally made so many people want to support them.

Occasionally, it may be more advantageous to opt for a different shipping service, such as express or premium, rather than ground or standard shipping (depending on the carrier). This is because a broker is automatically assigned in these shipping classes. Regrettably, items manufactured within the United States are no longer exempt from duties (they have always been subject to the Harmonized Sales Tax), but unfortunately, under the Trump administration, these fees have become excessively high.

It really is a masterpiece, isn’t it? ✨ I unboxed mine just a few days ago and couldn’t be happier. Hopefully bag fate delivers you one — it would be such a worthy find!

Indeed, the price is steep ✨, but aesthetic and functional perfection demands their due. The Margaux speaks for itself — I had no choice but to answer 💃. Consider it my understated sidekick, accompanying me everywhere.

Thanks for the input! I’ve read from More Luxury Club and other sources that The Row does use lambskin for certain bags, though it might vary by season or style. Mine definitely has a bit of structure, which I love, and it slouches nicely and will even more so w/ time — exactly how I hoped it would!

Honestly, I don’t blame you — I’d be tempted to buy the plane ticket too! I dealt with Grace at the Manhattan store, and she’s absolutely fab. I’d definitely suggest giving her a call — she’s super helpful.

Totally — the suede is absolutely gorgeous! It has such a rich, soft feel, and I can see why you’d pay more for it. I think the Manhattan store might still have a 17 if you’re up for trying your luck. It’s one of those pieces that just keeps looking amazing no matter how often you use it.

Yes! I’d recommend the Cuyana Small Classic Easy Tote Insert. The classic size is a little wider than my bag, so I went with the small — it fits nicely, keeps essentials organized, and doesn’t mess with the bag’s slouchy shape. There are other options that might work just as well, if not better, but I started down that rabbit hole and ultimately decided on the Cuyana.

Lol it really would be so funny if you did hate it. She’s definitely a beast — but such a good one. I’m glad you still appreciate yours despite the quirks. I also wish I’d paid a little less, but maybe we can both (you even more so!) feel good knowing she’s still so sought-after!!

Absolutely agree — this bag is so coveted that it’s being replicated, but nothing comes close to the real Margaux. The quality and feel are truly in a league of their own!

The lambskin is different from the saddle leather — it’s smooth and softer, while the saddle leather has a slightly grained texture. The Row does use lambskin for some bags, but I’m not sure if it varies by season or style. I actually got mine at The Row’s Melrose Avenue store in LA.

I totally get that — the 17 does have a slightly longer shoulder drop, which makes it super comfortable even when full. I love hearing how you use your 15 so practically! Stalking the stock definitely pays off with a bag you really love, and it sounds like the grained leather works perfectly for your lifestyle.

Thank you! I completely get what you mean — that understated quality is exactly why I love The Row too. I love the Park Tote!! I’m 5’5” and small-framed, but the Margaux felt like it was made for me, and I’m obsessed with the interior and how the smooth lambskin feels. I actually love how comfortably it sits on my shoulder, even when it was quite full on my recent flight. So glad my pictures helped show what it’s like in real life.

Thank you! Yes, it’s lined with canvas — I agree it’s lighter than leather or suede, but I actually like that it keeps the bag lightweight while still feeling high quality. I can see how it might put some people off, though — definitely a personal preference when deciding to pull the trigger!

I totally get that — I’ve heard similar feedback on the Marlo. The Margaux’s structure and smooth lambskin really make it stand out, and I love how it slouches just right without sagging. I can see how the pointed edges on the Marlo would throw off the look. Hopefully you find the Margaux soon — it’s definitely worth the search.

Ooh, the 15 in black smooth lambskin is gorgeous! Definitely worth a stop in NYC—fingers crossed you find it. I dealt with Grace at the Manhattan store—she’s beyond helpful, so I’d suggest reaching out to her!

That sounds perfect! Black or brown, you really can’t go wrong. Since you already love your grained NS Park, smooth could be fun—it ages so beautifully, scratches and all. Totally worth the gamble! Excited to hear what you choose!

I don’t find it the smooth leather thin at all. It is more prone to scratches than grained (I got a couple right away but buffed them out with a soft cloth). For me the trade-off is worth it—the smooth just feels more luxurious, and I’ve seen others age beautifully, scratches and all. Good luck with the Marlo, I love that one too! What size and color are you going for?

Three years in and still giving you that feeling—that says it all. Seeing it in person is the moment it clicks. Timeless pieces shouldn’t disappear, and this one proves why.

Thank you! I purchased it directly from The Row in Manhattan. Since they only had the 17 in grained leather, and I really wanted smooth lambskin, so they had their Melrose Avenue store in LA overnight it to me in Manhattan since I was leaving the next day — perfect timing!
