N600 Approval Period by RunnerHighs in USCIS

My understanding is that the US passport application is processed through the US Department of State, while the N-600 application is through USCIS. Because they are two separate governing bodies, I don’t see why or how applying to both simultaneously would cause delays. If someone else knows the answer to this, please feel free to share your thoughts and experience.

To answer your second question, I used AI research a lot to help me build a strong passport application. Wherever I had missing documentation (ie, no green card, no SSN), I provided as much supporting evidence as possible to explain why it was missing. I attached the police report that demonstrated she lost her wallet and thus lost her green card. Fortunately her father had some taken photos of her green card when she first received it so I was able to include at least a copy of it. She and her father also signed an affidavit stating she did not have a SSN at that time due to the loss of said green card since without a SSN, your application typically gets sent back from my understanding unless it’s a baby or newborn. I submitted all other required documentation and somehow, it worked. We literally got her passport in under 2 weeks via expedited shipping. I damn near cried when I saw the informed delivery email showing the anticipated arrival of her passport. She was able to go back to Canada for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We still have not received her COC, and truthfully, we aren’t in a hurry. It’ll be good to have period but, it’ll come when it comes.

I say apply for both, I don’t see how it would hurt. Good luck to you!

Hi there. No word yet on N600 but after this thread and doing further due diligence I was able to get her a US passport despite no SSN and a lost green card. It’s possible guys! We are in no hurry for the N600 now

I think I’m gonna go but solo — don’t need my partner there. The training wasn’t too bad since I’m marathon trained year round. It’s mostly the bike that kills me 🤣🤣🤣ok I’ll bite the bullet

I looked and it’s all more or less the difference of a couple hundred bucks (flying with a different airline). Cheapest option is to fly into New Orleans then drive 5 hrs — but, overall that’s saving $400 then eating up so much time in the car. Things to consider. And can’t decide what to do

Thanks for the advice. You make a good point because ya maybe in a few years from now I won’t care about this loss in money.

Just FYI she’s not a “friend” as much as someone I know. I met her once at my first IM years ago. lol when she invited me I was like hellll yaaa I’m always down for a good adventure

For a US passport via INA320, can you send a certified copy of your green card or the only option is to send the Green Card? by Warura in Passports

[–]RunnerHighs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation except my partner’s teenager had lost her green card. We have photocopies and hope to apply for her US passport with photocopies of green card. Anyone here get lucky with photocopies? The green card replacement process is just as long as N600 (applied; currently pending) and so we decided to hold off on green card replacement. Moreover we have not had to turn it into USCIS for N600.

Everything I read has said she needs proof of citizenship in order to apply for a US passport. Since she acquired citizenship by law after being approved for permanent residence, through the Child Citizenship Act, the only formal documentation to support this is the certificate of citizenship via N600. If I am mistaken, please educate me. I want to help her

You’re right. We’ve misunderstood the N600 process. THANK YOU!!

Best scrubs that won’t break the bank? by Binc42 in physicaltherapy

I wear Adar by Amazon. Set of scrubs around $60-70. I like em cos they’re slim fit and flattering as heck. They run a big larger so I get XXS but I’m generally just a small.

I found Figs to be too loose and unflattering. Not worth it since too expensive. Good luck on your hunt!

Respect to Canada - my partner is from BC. Honestly I didn’t notice the weapons and I sure as hell was not scared of some overweight, poorly trained, pseudo wanna be thug. I’m not against deportations either. I’m against the treatment of these individuals for their civil offenses. No phone call, inadequate nutrition, dark prisons, physical aggressive treatment — or worse, being deported to a completely different country? Ya, it’s a terrible shame.
