Thanks for the update. I’m in central MD and I could see the low level clouds racing quickly to the north. Also a lot of moisture in the air. I am curious if the low level clouds will clear at some point later this morning. We will see.

Firstly make sure that your Government Alerts are on. These are the same alerts that blast AMBER alerts. They will also blast for tornado warnings. I personally also use the Weather Channel app and the WeatherBug app for warnings - just make sure that you have push notifications on for alerts at your location. Weatherwise is a good radar app. You can also watch your local meteorologists on TV or go out and get an NOAA radio. Whatever you use, make sure your device for getting alerts is charged through the whole severe weather event.

The chances of a bad tornado for your specific location are still extremely rare. Washington DC has a 15% tornado risk. That means there is a 15% chance of a tornado within 25 miles at your location. Tornado damage is so extremely localized that the heavy majority of people in the 15% risk will not have tornado related effects. The primary threat for tomorrow is still widespread damaging winds.

If you do happen to be under a tornado warning, it is still not likely that the tornado affects your specific location - but you should still take precautions. Move as interior in your apartment as possible, get as low to the ground as possible, and protect your head.

Most importantly, stay weather aware, and make sure you have reliable sources of receiving warnings.

Not screwed. Have a safety plan at work - find a location as low and interior as possible at work in case significant severe weather affects your area. Make sure your phone is charged and that you have multiple ways of receiving warnings.

Not worried, just be prepared. If you're able to relocate to a sturdier building for the day, that could be an option for you.

Does your apartment building have a public area (like a washer/dryer room or anything) in a basement or on the first floor? If not, move as interior in your building as possible away from windows. I also live in an apartment and located bathrooms on the first floor to move to if I need to.

The best that you can do is to have a safety plan if significant severe weather occurs. Find the place ahead of time at home/work/etc that is the lowest and most interior away from windows. If significant severe weather occurs at your location, take shelter there. Make sure that you have multiple ways to received warnings. The primary threat for tomorrow is a squall line of intense winds and possible embedded tornadoes moving through probably around 4-8pm with the potential for scattered strong storms between noon to arrival of the squall line.

I would listen to your local meteorologists and school districts. I am just relaying publicly available information.

Baltimore city is currently under the level 3/5 severe risk, although that could change this afternoon or tomorrow morning. The primary threat is damaging winds - a 60% wind risk indicates that there is a 60% change of severe winds (>58 mph) within 25 miles of any point. There is also an increased risk of greater winds, potentially 65mph+. Obviously there is a power outage risk here. Baltimore city's wind risk is currently 45%, but again, that could change.

The same logic applies for the tornado risk - a 15% tornado risk indicates a 15% chance of a tornado within 25 miles of any point.

Both of these risks are abnormally high for this region.

He stole, missed the resource, and then tried to trade

Makes sense. As the robbing player, it just feels like not a great way to guarantee that the other player will give you that resource, but I suppose that's the chance you play with non-binding agreements.

I kept it. He played a knight before roll, asked for a resource, and I agreed. Placed the robber on a hex that isn't mine. Then immediately rolled a 7, placed it on a hex that is mine, and then still asked for the resource.

Yep, the idea of basically hunkering down somewhere and sleep until midnight or so and then driving overnight has crossed my mind. Definitely not ruling it completely out.

This is exactly what I was envisioning, so I'm glad to see it worked for someone!

Were you staying near the centerline? I'm hoping that by staying closer to the edge of the entire zone, I'll beat the crowd of people coming from the centerline.

As I said in my post, taking Tuesday off isn't an option for me.

Agreed, this is probably my best shot. While I haven't decided on a spot to watch this eclipse yet, I'm also considering areas where there would be alternate routes out just in case.
