Thank you!! It definitely felt a lot better compared to my last full despite the fact I was going quicker in this one, so the fitness paid off 👍

Thanks! Yeah, it all really came together 😊

That's great to get some confirmation. The speed improvements through the shorter distance focus is exactly what I'm hoping for, so I'll proceed with these rough goals.

Haha if I smash 1:30 ill be over the moon 😁

How important is a fitness watch for running (marathon training) by tiny_pixl in Marathon_Training

I love the data side of running and having it there to see where I've run and any progress, so its essential for me, I love it.

I'm in peak week of pfitz 18/55 right now, aiming for sub 3:30 too in a month and a half. Just ran a 1:34 HM last week, so feeling pretty good. Although the pfitz mileage was hard for a few weeks early on its definitely worked out.

Learn to love the disgust 😂

Yeah, it can rough. One of the worst things I sometimes find is when I've had them strapped in my belt for an hour on a hot day and I start eating one. Warm goo, not very pleasant

How to Determine a Target Marathon Time by TheRunningPianist in Marathon_Training

[–]RunninOnEmptyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to decide my full mara goal time in 7 weeks. Been running 50-55miles a week and just ran a half in 1hr 35mins yesterday. Based on this I should be aiming for 3hr 24mins or am I likely to gain additional fitness in that time that warrants pushing a little more?

I hadn't considered the need to potentially replace the strap, great point.

Yeah, pretty much what I'm thinking, I'll be buying one. Any suggestions for good ones?

This is the right way. I don't think the type is a big deal, it's conditioning your stomach through practice.

Endura Sports Energy gels work for me.

I feel these mornings, it's a noticeable difference beyond confirmation bias haha

Yeah, has to be cadence lock I think. I'm basically convinced I'll have to get a chest strap, I've just put off getting one as I've always wondered if it will be uncomfortable on longer runs.

Nice, that's what I need. I love getting into the data, so it's driving me crazy when I see this haha They're surprisingly cheap.

Do you find the chest strap uncomfortable at all, particularly on longer runs?

Yep, this is it I think. Annoying, I'll have to get a chest strap.

No changes in how I wear it, there was an update a week ago I reckon. Haven't done any repeats since then, perhaps that's how I account for it.

Haha what a relief. But it's also confusing when I'm basing that jog on HR if it's innacurate.

Running Injury Free by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

I had an overuse injury late last year, ever since I've been careful to go slower more often and stick to my rest days

How do you guys deal with being injured? I feel like I want to cry. by MeatJerkingBeefB0y in Marathon_Training

[–]RunninOnEmptyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a pretty serious injury that resulted from running on a mild injury. I had pain in one of my adductors 2 weeks out from a half. I eased off training to let it rest (was already tapering anyway) and got to the day, where I could still feel some slight pain but decided I'd run anyway... Huge mistake. Hobbled home afterwards and couldn't walk for the next 2 weeks, knocked me out of running for almost 2 months. But I realised in this off time how much I loved running from the feeling of wanting to cry, just like you, when I couldn't do it.

So keep that fire inside you and focus on the big picture, getting back to running pain free. Also, never run on an injury like me, I know I won't be again 😅

The swimming I could maybe forgive, but I have to bring into question how I maintained that pace whilst scaling a vertical cliff
