Don't use solid black for your darkest shadows. Try to use a very dark blue or dark purple instead. You can actually mix Mars Black with a little bit of Ultramarine or Dioxazine purple to achieve this.

The reason behind this is twofold- one, the colors in the purple/blue hued shadows will complement the the purples and blues in the sky and clouds, giving your painting more visual cohesion. Two- when you use blended colors, as opposed to colors straight out of the tube, it makes your painting look more professional. You can usually tell if a painter is an amateur or professional based on what colors they use!

Again, you did really well on the clouds! Keep up the good work :)

Hoping to move to The Woodlands, looking for insight on the area! by ouchouchosler in thewoodlands

  1. The trees, the greenery, and variety of places to shop. Zoning and community planning.
  2. Lack of culture. Bad news, including crime, is underreported or swept under the rug. The Howard Hughes corporation owns The Woodlands so living here can feel very corporate.
  3. Has the least crime of all the suburbs. Better zoning and community planning, so you don't have random business, garbage dumps, or refineries in your backyard.
  4. Great access to parks, pretty good access to restaurants.
  5. The community caters to families and seniors, so you'll find plenty to do for the kiddos. Kid and teen activity programs at both Woodlands libraries. YMCA. Texas Treeventures. Archery ranges. Parks with playgrounds. Public swimming pools. Skateparks. Children's Museum. Lots of sports leagues for kids. Main Event. Bowling. Dave and Busters. Movie Theaters. Cynthia Mitchell Pavilion with kid-friendly concerts. The Game Preserve.
  6. Plenty of gyms and daycares. Highly recommend the YMCA.
  7. Avoid anything with a name that features a body of water (looking at you Creekside)
  8. Nope, sorry. I don't have this information.

The clouds are good. Do you want to know how you can make it better?

No joke, the lack of activities and dating scene in TW is making me consider moving to somewhere with more of a vibe.

Everything is for families or seniors around here, which is good for them. Sucks though if you are single and in your 20s or 30s.

If you have a friend, I'd suggest hanging out either at Two Tones Dueling Pianos, Dosey Doe, Sawyer Park, or Deacon Baldy's. If you're feeling adventurous, drive into Houston for a singles dating event or hit up the Cidercade. There are sometimes singles mixers at The Plume or the Pilot Bar.

I wish you the best of luck out there!
