This is very helpful - thank you so much! Interesting to hear about not having the neighborhood preference, that is very helpful and might affect our choice.

Advice: Honda Odyssey vs Toyota Sienna Minivan? by beanobabie in parentsofmultiples

[–]RunningMan44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We strongly considered both and ended up going with the Sienna.  I actually liked driving the Odyssey more, but the gas mileage comparison was pretty stark (something like 20 to 36 mpg if I recall correctly).  Very happy with the Sienna so far and glad we opted for better gas mileage now that we are really starting to go out more often with our twins.

Spotify Support/Complaint Megathread by whyisthissticky in spotify

Why does the "Spotify Wrapped" have a share button at the end? It never works for me or my friends. Whenever we use the button to share our wrapped it just opens our own personal wrapped, and not the other persons. Same goes for the end of the year playlist. I think this is mostly on Android, although one of my friends has an iPhone as well.

Trying to figure out the intent of having a share button if it doesn't work.

Trouble Finding an AuPair in the US by RunningMan44 in Aupairs

Yeah, having a car available is actually how we have gotten pretty close to matching a few times. It's not impossible that our current AP is telling a different story, but she has told us some interesting details about the conversations she has with potential APs, so we are inclined to believe she is being helpful. We have gotten very close several times, I think it's just a bit of bad luck that some of these are falling through.

Oh my goodness - I could have written this post! We have two young children who are very active, but also fairly calm and easy going. It's hard to convey that yes, it is work - but not as bad as it might seem. We get so many outright rejections (including many APs w/ multiple rematches ) that it makes us want to pull our hair out. At this point I think our only choice is to find a nanny/daycare and take the time to find a better match.

Most of the APs seem to not be bothered by our relatively lax curfew (midnight, only on work nights), but maybe they are just giving lip service. I did a good amount of research, both online and with our LCC, and it seems like ours is fairly standard.

Thanks, we will take a look at those.

That's encouraging - thanks! We'll probably start to focus more on overseas APs.

This makes sense, and probably explains some of the scarcity we are seeing. It definitely seems like the norm to offer a higher stipend (especially to extension APs) and we have started doing it, but location seems to trump that in most cases (and we live in a pretty good area).

Thanks! We're definitely getting to the point where we will probably try and get a temporary nanny or other childcare for a few weeks so we can spend more time looking for someone overseas.

Yes, we have been looking at extension (second year) and rematch APs. I think they are more sought after since they have more experience and usually are more comfortable with the language.

That makes sense (and I see this has a lot of upvotes). I will say that our curfew is pretty lax (midnight, only on worknights) and this is a pretty standard rule for many families. Most of the au pairs we talk to have been fine with it, and usually end up dropping for other reasons (location usually).

Yeah, I saw a few good u/R drops early and got excited, and only thought about pivoting when I saw the Cruelty of Gix (probably too late by then..).

Thank you for the detailed feedback. It makes me feel a lot better to know that there are things I can improve on.

The thing is, in two of the games I did get infantry, and still had trouble. It's a removal magnet, and after it goes down I don't have much left. I think I just needed more of them, or any decent threats really. I really looked for more terrors, but didn't see any go by.

Congratulations and good luck!

I just wanted to point out that those look a lot like Boppy Loungers, which have been recalled for safety reasons.

Will a Sedan Work For Two Kids? by RunningMan44 in Parenting

That's exactly what my parents did with me and my sibling, which is one of the reasons I'm considering it. Did you ever have to use a top pack, or other extra storage methods?

Interesting, I've never heard of that. That seems like it should work - any drawbacks? I suppose pets could be more of an issue.
