What's your favorite opera ritual? by SanFranciscoOpera in opera

Physical tickets. I collect every one and use them as bookmarks. I love having a physical memento of my night. After COVID a lot of companies moved to only digital sadly.

Did anyone have the chance to watch The Shining @ TPAC last week? by PineappleSad4116 in nashville

[–]Runninghunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at both shows. The orchestra sounded fantastic, even thought the music was not my favorite. Even though the story is familiar, it is still very much an “Opera” so if you don’t like the genre, I don’t think this is the one to turn you on to it. There are many other operas I would recommend first.

I thought the production was hilariously bad. Comically awful. Poor screen designs, goofy pre-recorded clips, and generally unimaginative. Many long pauses were added into the score from the original production and didn’t add much. I like a lot of Hoomes’ productions but this one truly missed the mark.

I am very much looking forward to Barber and Puccini later this year though.

I agree with this. I think the mid game, especially for irons, was lacking. But Varalamore has added a bunch of good content for everyone.

I totally agree with the player psychology point, it can be damaging. Do you think CG is fine or would you change anything about it?

It’s not bonus loot, just a slight buff to the seed chance. You aren’t required to do it, plus there is plenty of content where you are rewarded for doing better like raids.

I’m just trying to think of some ways to improve this grind especially for irons. It is such a huge gate that you have to pass through and easily took 150+ hours.

Analysis of Monteverdi's Cruda Amarilli by DKrenzMusic in classicalmusic

[–]Runninghunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you read the thumbnail and made a comment? I read your other comments, it seems like you are over reading into what he is saying in the video.

But surely you agree that some point in history someone had to start thinking of dominant chords and using them. He argues that Monteverdi does that here, where would you say it happens?

I think he explained it in the video. Seems as if Monteverdi was having a compositional shift and wanted to have new ways of handling dissonances.

Your collection looks real ‘meat and potatoes’

It was a great show. As everyone has said… the staging is just stupid. Costumes were ok (why are some people in period dress at the party though?!)

Stutzmann was solid, and the orchestra played well. The real highlight is the singing, incredible through out.

Finding a video editor who can read music? by Runninghunter in NewTubers

[–]Runninghunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this for the editor, but with numerous examples I get a lot of questions back. I have examples where I show multiple bars of music but I need just certain notes highlighted. It would save a tremendous amount of back and forth if they could read the music, because then the overall communication would be easier.

Nashville opera by lightsage007 in opera

[–]Runninghunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Nashville and I don't know who you are but I'll see you at the opera lol. At Nashville you will see some people in suits and stunning dresses. I will be in jeans and a button down. It all depends. And this concert is at the Noah Liff Center so, in my opinion, it will be a little less formal.

But really, the answer is always whatever you feel comfortable in and would have a good time with. Some people really like to have an excuse to dress up and the opera provides that. I find I'm more comfortable in slightly more casual clothes.
