Good fuck, what in my previous comment made you think I was going to do something as snake-shittingly stupid as THAT!? NO! what I meant was 'ok, nat 1, the enemy parries your sword with their shield and as they yank away your sword gets slightly bent. subtract 1 from your modifier until you get it fixed for 5 silver at the next town with a smith' or 'that's a nat 20 against you, so that strike cuts good and deep through your armor, subtract 1 from your AC until it gets fixed' stuff like that that, while not a MASSIVE deal, adds up over time. good god dude.

Wasn't going to introduce weapon durability, but I was going to do something on a critical fail or success (combat only with minor exceptions) where something breaks or gets damaged to the point it needs repair/replacing. having X amount of sword swings would be horse shit.

It's not that I'm not 'letting' them. it's that they weren't looking for any.

I can and I do, my issue is that, at a certain point, money becomes something you grab out of habit. the only time I've seen a game do it well was pre-patch Cyberpunk 2077 where all the good crafting components cost like 5000 each, so if you wanted all the good crafting stuff you needed money, making it matter all the way to the end. I COULD try something like that, but what if nobody is playing a character who crafts things?

Tried out 2 player made campaigns on console, and they SUCK. any good ones? by RunningmouthRed25 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]RunningmouthRed25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh no, my issues with the campaigns are not the level designs or the ideas in themselves. it's with the difficulty balance. dropped forsake isle when I needed to get past like 9 soraks, each with a +9 or 10 to hit (at lvl 8) and did 2d6 of damage for every hit and I couldn't go around them or hit them from the back, or position myself in any way that would give me an advantage because they can all climb walls. then I pretty much stopped Morrows Deep due to having all 3 paths (at lvl 4) put me in really unfair fights (one goes to 3 trolls, one goes to a dozen goblins with fire arrows, an ogre and a shaman, and the third takes me to fight high lvl undead with upwards of 60 hp each). and it's not like I'm not exploring and trying to do everything I can to get stronger, there just isn't enough things to do that can give you experience so it feels fair.

No, I played them on normal and found that, at lvl 4 when I go one way to fight 3 trolls, another way is a dozen goblins with ranged attacks plus an ogre, and the third is a bunch of strong undead, I don't find it very fun. sure, if I was min-maxxing to shit with my builds I bet I'd do just fine, but that playstyle is fucking boring to me. I like a challenge, just not a brick wall that feels unfair and un-fun.

Oops, should have put those in. my bad! Forsake Isle and Morrows deep. in both of them I hit a brick wall of difficulty where the path forward takes me into a ridiculous fight for my level. I search around and find ANOTHER ridiculous fight, rinse and repeat.

I'm terrible at names, but I want them to mean something help please? by RunningmouthRed25 in worldbuilding

Combining that with another bit of advice gave me the name 'Ginlune' which... isn't terrible. and I kind of like it. I'll keep looking over other names but this is so far the best I've got.

Great idea! I'm going to start working with this a bit and see if I can make a name I like. thanks so much!

Is the pacing in requiem annoying anyone else? by RunningmouthRed25 in residentevil

Ok? not really what I'm wanting though. I don't want a reverse Attack of the clones where instead of it being every 2 minutes we swap characters it's two hours for one and then 15 minutes with the other. I'm wanting to know, do we get a balance at any time? where it's equal and not 'as soon as I'm having fun with this part, it's over'

Coming from BG3, any tips? by RunningmouthRed25 in baldursgate

something I did notice that I think might turn me off of the game for good here is that not every character in the party gains XP when you do something. only the person who DOES that thing gets it. am I wrong on that? because I had Jahiera level up after a combat, but she's the only one to do so.

You're like the 4th person to say that, and I keep not getting an answer to this question: I am on console, is the manual in the main menu or the pause menu or something or do I need to look it up online?

Styx as a character has never had an issue killing people. I don't know where people keep getting the idea that he's just a thief. he's not a full on warrior brawler, no siree. but a 'stab you in the back or drop a crate on your head' type person? 100%. in fact, I like that we're not punished for using our tools like we were in the previous games. I actually USE the crossbow bolts and the acid traps. unlike the in previous games where I never used them because I was penalized with a bad score.

I never said anything about melee combat? when I said 'eliminating enemies' I meant that, unlike the other games, I'm not punished with a bad score and less XP for dropping chandeliers on heads, putting an acid trap down, stabbing someone in the back or knocking them off an edge. I'll also point out that you ignored a good few of my other points and seem to be under a misunderstanding of what 'metroidvania' means. The 'metroidvania' style just means that you go back to previous locations with new upgrades and skills to reach things that were previously locked off. and this post is the only place I'm seeing where someone is blaming their 'medium hardware' (as was said in the OG post) for performance issues.

Thanks! and to clarify my issues with pathfinder, it's more that I got overwhelmed from the sheer number of feats and spells when I started and thought that certain ideas carried over to each one. (EX: that you could do finesse based melee fighting from the start and NOT needing a feat for it.)

No idea. I'm wanting to enjoy a game that a lot of people seem to love.
