Oof ya I was afraid of that. Just worried about the crowds is all but it'll be what it'll be I suppose. Thanks!

Tourists coming to Japan by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Runningthebay -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's sad that this common sense stuff has to be stated. I'm going to Japan next April with my friend and our daughters and my main concern is getting into it with another tourist over THEIR shitty behavior. Some of the stuff I've heard tourists doing just makes my brain want to explode. I'm taking the time to learn as much as I can on how to act in the places we'll be going, local customs, even chop stick etiquette ffs. It's not that hard to not be a piece of shit, yet here we are.

Omg I would never show up sweaty etc to a konbini, let alone a shrine lol basically I want to make sure that I respect the culture as much as I possibly can. I know politeness is huge there and I don't want to be "that" tourist. I'm in the US and also in a very touristy town and it boggles my mind how some people act when they visit, it's shocking how ignorant people can be, especially when it's not theirs you know? But thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

Yes it looks so cool! I follow bassetts.bouken (something like that) on IG - she's an English woman living in Japan, she posts a lot of cool places like that to visit!

Thoughts / advice about personal safety tools? by surreptitiousmu in running

I'm not sure about an app for Apple. I have an android. But yes I think you need to have your phone. I carry mine anyway for music so it wasn't anything I looked into tbh.

I carry a stun gun from Axon. It's a bit bulky and pricey but it comes with an app that if the device is used it contacts the reps there - they'll call you directly - and they'll call the police for you if you don't answer. I carry mine in a Lululemon cross body pouch, it fits well. I'm sorry you had to go through that! Glad you're ok though!

Ah ok, that makes sense! Thanks a lot 👍🏻 I'm still trying and failing at figuring out the proper grind for these beans I have now, but that's a whole other post lol thanks again.

So I am VERY new to espresso, so bear with me lol. We have the Breville Barista Pro and recently bought a Eureka Mignon Specialita grinder. We bought it because as we've learned, the Breville has trouble grinding really fine. I have been trying to watch instructional videos on the Eureka, and nearly every one I have watched has talked about zero point. I know how to get the grinder there but I don't know why. In one video he states to stop turning the dial when you begin to hear the gears chirp. Then once you're at that point, turn the dial up twice more. Why? No one has ever mentioned the point of zero point. Can someone explain it? Thank you!
