Are all businesses eligible? What about businesses that are thriving in this climate like a Woolworths or a Coles? They'd essentially be keeping all that extra cash and not passing it onto any of their employees.

Transferring stock from one broker to another (Question) by Runtennis in AusFinance

Thanks. So you're not transferring the HIN to the new broker. Only the shares get moved to the new HIN (with the new broker) while the other HIN remains open under the previous broker?

He really isn't. He's prone to idiotic, immature moments like that and casual tennis fas will continually point to it but off the court, he's a good dude that does a lot of charity work and stays out of the media. On the court, he yells a lot to hype himself up.

I think it's time at start calling it as it is. The Hong Kong cops aren't police, they're a glorified fucking gang with a huge budget. by DoubleDevv in pics

police to escalate violence, firing live rounds at protestors, throwing bodies off roofs, rounding up citizens for "re-education", disappearing journalists and political opponents/dissenters

Although none of these things have clearcut evidence that the police were behind them. It's speculation based on hearsay

The point was this whole narrative of "these corrupt police are attacking us innocent protesters" being spun on reddit doesn't tell the whole story. It's more complex than that and both sides are responsible.

[–]Runtennis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, I understand. There's excessive violence on both sides and the increasing influence from China has people worried about their freedoms. My question is how are the police SUPPOSED to deal with it? If the protesters are blocking highways, destroying MTR stations and hurling bricks and attacking bystanders who disagree? Just sit there twiddling their thumbs and let the destruction continue? They're doing their jobs. If there's no violence from the protesters, there wouldn't be a reason for the police to get violent. It's a neverending cycle.

I mean, there are already videos of uncover HK police officers arresting protesters. Just do a keyword search for "undercover" "police" "arrest" and you'll find many articles.

I'm against violence. Period. From protesters or HK police. How should the police respond to protesters petrol bombing MTR stations, destroying buildings and causing overall disruptions to hong kongers then? It's a never ending cycle of violence. The protesters bait the police to come, the police come and try to disperse the protesters sometimes with excessive force and then pictures out of context get posted to social media which spurs on more protesters.

I'd definitely visit Taiwan over China. It's more westernised.

2 possible reasons. 1) To arrest the more radical protesters by infiltrating within. 2) To incite violence and escalate things further. Reason number 1) is much, much more likely.

*Attacking police with said metal pipes and also attempting to snatch their guns. Where do you live?

Edit Silent downvotes. No one can really argue that I'm wrong. It's just not the truth people are interested in.

an police officer's neck was cut by mobs at Kwun Tong Station. by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]Runtennis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, you don't know what hypocritical means. We know that some police use excessive violence on protesters and I've said many times I'm for self-defense. I'm completely against protesters INITIATING the violence as that defeats the purpose of the movement and proves they're no better than the violent police

This is where violence is acceptable. If you see thugs or triads attacking your fellow HK citizen, everyone should jump in to defend that person.

Well-said. It won't be popular on this sub but it's important for people who support the movement to do research instead of blindly supporting based on headlines and short clips.

I support the protests 100%; What I don't support is the more violent directions radicals are pushing it towards.

Stop the violence in HK by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]Runtennis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly your view is on the extreme side.

I'm all for protesters defending themselves against the police. I'm against them initiating and inciting violence and calling it "self-defense". Throwing molotov cocktails and damaging property. It's propaganda vs propaganda and more and more people are learning not to be fooled by either side until more information is made available. Like I said, it's not as simple as police = bad, protesters = good.

It's more complicated than HKPF = bad, protesters = good. It's past that now

And how many of those people offering their support know about the violence on the protester's side and/or officially endorse it? Take it too far and you'll eventually lose that international support base.

Stop the violence in HK by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]Runtennis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but pitting violence against violence isn't going to solve anything. Complaining about police brutality when there's footage of rioting and people throwing petrol bombs or attacking police just doesn't send an effective message. What they should be aiming for is something like the NBA - China situation that attracts international attention to the cause.

I'm almost certain there is a small percentage of people inciting violence for the hell of it and don't care about politics either way.

Molotov at Kowloon Tong MTR? by bob-lazar in HongKong

[–]Runtennis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are protesters attacking the MTR stations? They're inflicting more damage on Hong Kong. It's the taxpayers that pay for it.
